At the junction of the military road to Stari Utro we leave the car and walk up to the 24th bend. From here onwards the remains of the road are so abandoned and collapsed that continuing is possible only on foot. A little below Stari Utro the forest thins and white peaks appear in the direction of Triglav. From the hunting hut at Stari Utro we continue along a modest path to the summit where all the beauty of the peaks above Trenta reveals itself. To Stari Utro there are some snow patches, further to the summit a few cm of wet snow and it poses no problems. To below Stari Utro the road runs through forest, no views, but at the hunting hut and summit we are rewarded with superb panorama. In current conditions highly recommended tour.

From Loška Koritnica, first a bit on our own, we continue "over štenge", along the marked path towards the saddle Čez Brežice. A little below the saddle we turn left and descend deep into Loški žleb. We cross the gully and continue along its western side to a grassy shoulder from which there's a nice view directly to the outlet of Loški žleb on Jezerih. We cross Dolge prode and we're at the top. The view into Loška Koritnica is really scary, the wall drops without interruption to the valley bottom. Descent continues with ascent along Dolge prode to the exit gully on the marked path Kotovo sedlo-Jalovec. Along it we descend (partly snowy) to Kotovo sedlo. Descent to Loška Koritnica drags on and on.
Whoever doesn't mind walking on scree, gravel and talus, this tour is tailor-made for them.

Most passers-by don't even know that it's not a structure named Morbegna, but Caserme Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele III di Monte Tricorno (Triglav mountain barracks (king) Vittorio Emanuele the third). Morbegna was in another place and not even a stone remains of it, the location is even hard to determine.

Trail 630 is marked as a via ferrata and is excellently maintained. It's completely different on the other side of Škrbina Belega potoka, a ruin that makes you pity your shoe.

asdf: Where the wire ropes will be is not a matter of personal judgment, but a decision of the Mountain Paths Commission at PZS. It is up to the individual whether to attach to it or not. Of course you must have SVK with you.

The pletenice are there where they are really needed and there you clip in with SVK.

From Spodnjih Bajdiš we went along a network of forest roads to the intersection with the mountain path coming from Borovlje. Along it to St. Anne's church and further over the peaks of the ridge called Turni (there are 4). We descended to Koce saddle and along a harder-to-follow path to Bajdiše. 20 minutes of road to Spodnjih Bajdiš was somewhat unnecessary. Unfortunately the weather was not favorable for views from the otherwise scenic peaks of the ridge.

From Vrsnik past the hamlet Črč to the Predel saddle and right to Črni vrh. The path to Črč is easily traceable. Here in the tall grass there is some searching, but immediately in the forest easily traceable to Predel. Further on to Črni vrh there is none, we go by feel. The summit is bushy, without a view, which we must find on the path itself to the summit. The view from the viewpoint above the wall into Vrsnik is stunning.

Path 629 for the approach to Corsi hut is more demanding than paths 628 and 628a. A helmet is recommended.

From Podklanec along the Primus Weg trail to Planina Zaslapi, where we chat with a friendly local. Above the start of the pasture, you need to find the continuation of the path, which is nicely passable up to the forest line. Further on, due to high grass and natural influences, it is harder to follow but logical, you need to reach the ridge. Then just an ascent left off-trail to an extremely scenic summit. We descend to the saddle between Srednja špica and Hudi vrh. Here we decide to traverse the ridge to the summit of Vršiči. To Hudi vrh the ridge is in some places trentarsko exposed. From Slopce to Vršiči the ridge is quite bushy, but doable. From Vršiči we descend off-trail to the mule track Planina Golobar - Lipnik. Then just a veeeery long descent along the Bulfon Weg trail to the starting point.

"Trobec", so that no one thinks that the ascent via Plemenice for example is similar to the approach from Krma to the Triglav Lodge on Kredarica.

It's not worth it, but it's good to have it with you and use it.
PS: Bragging that you didn't have it on the way over Plemenice is not smart!

How is the descent from Škrbina to the scree, I don't remember anymore, since I didn't even have that in mind. Probably some technique (rope, piton, hammer) won't be superfluous.
Janez Seliškar26. 04. 2026 20:15:57
Winter gear is still required for the approach to the summit.

The guidebook comes in very handy: Path through the Svečinske Hills. In autumn, this path is wonderful.

As said, glacier tour with all that comes with it, far from easy, very little frequented. Already to the glacier hard to follow, on descent even more.
