Often on the forum a small or larger debate develops about naming places, pastures, peaks and such in Slovenian or foreign language. I've already several times in conversation with hiking friends (he, he, didn't say mountaineering or alpinistsvelik nasmeh) realized that I'm not the only one having trouble searching on maps. E.g., I have quite some cartography bought in Trieste at my favorite bookstore "Libreria Transalpina" in "Torrebianca" street, which mainly have Italian names. And when I enjoy reading our forumers' posts (e.g. Triglavski and others in western Julian, Carnic Alps) and plan "imitating" tour ideas, often I can't figure out from the map where e.g. starting point, pasture, peak is. Maybe someone knows some website or other literature where names in both languages would be found: Slovenian and Italian?

We have at home one "extreme freezer" (wife...). Even the combination of winter mountaineering boots + boiled wool socks doesn't help. Always cold. Maybe someone knows if you can get some warm mountaineering boots with e.g. additional inner boot like the La Sportiva Spantik were - just we don't need "expedition" boots.mrk pogled

@Peter B.: In Portorož you already have all that you want (or you're sure that it belongs to you!), from serviced and heated rooms even in winter, to inspections within reach.

From today also possible without snowshoes and skis.
Of course, with appropriate winter gear for the ascent to the summit, although there are nice steps in the gully.
On the pilgrimage path from Žabnica the small additional crampons save you, because the path is as usual quite icy.
(Only, given modern times, I don't know how to define us: either two diligent ones who trampled it, or two rascals making gaps...zmeden)

The inscription briefly means: "The rope was installed in autumn 2006, so far undamaged by avalanches, is safe, but responsibility is on the user."

Only between lion and thrush there is quite a few kg of difference. Leone: means lion; Merlone: merlo means thrush, merlone big thrush.velik nasmeh

Morning: relatively good.
Afternoon: thunderstorms expected.
At 9.00 it's absolutely too late.
You should start at least at 6am, and after 9-10am already be back.

The painter is facing towards Pivka and Vremščica.
(Holy Trinity is behind his back.)

Today I lured daughter and "granddaughter" to hills and chose Matajur: up from Avsa on old path southern side and down northern side past Idrijska planina. Weather as everywhere extreme little snow but quite icy so small crampons Verige Lesce served excellently.

Today on Poldašnja Peak from Zajzera. Conditions and views as Igor described above. I'd just add that I've never experienced such a great descent: at 10am when I started descending, the warm weather and sun had softened the snow just enough to make a good inch of softened snow on the trodden track, down which it went like a rocket. From the summit to the last parking lot at the barracks I raced in one hour and twenty minutes (including beer at the hut!). Let anyone say that us abrahamovci are for write-offangrybig grin.

To me (doesn't) suit:
Neither the day before nor on tour: no baked, especially fatty meat and no sweets. Result: restlessness and heavy legs and above-average thirst.
During the tour always wholegrain bread and something light with it, never salty salami etc., because it causes thirst. I drink only water. The most important to me seems breakfast, like every day, regardless of time, tested: handful of sesame, handful of wheat and handful of oat flakes, teaspoon of cocoa, 2.5 dl sour milk.
One beer at the hut or at the end has never harmed me.

What if we said something about taverns after the finished tour, where you get some good hot stew at a reasonable price: I e.g. when I go somewhere above Tolmin and on the return early enough and hungry (like yesterday after return from Vogel already at 15h), turn to Most na Soči to Vuga inn, where they always have good jota and beans.
What about in other areas, does anyone have something similar?

And this from a very high-status position, count's. This sharp babe is just a bit afraid to look straight in the eyes ...
