Hi. Does anyone know yet what the conditions are like on Smrekovec, or on Lepenatka? Can you ski? Lp.

Winter in this part of KSA is one of the most beautiful. Mainly because of the views. Today in ideal weather conditions we climbed to Lastovec. We set out on the tour with the intention that some test their new winter equipment (snowshoes) - I've been "driving" them for the second season - and to finally see the sun in the mountains as it should be. The pleasure was 120 km/h.

I don't know where, maybe right under this post which is closest and most current (read: with lots of posts). Need to mention and praise PD Mozirje markers for new nicely arranged path from Istega to Kal. On part where path steeply descends or ascends[, they] routed [it] through forest, nicely in switchbacks. Worth checking, maybe circular variant via Stara stan. Lp.

Today from firbc, a bit for pleasure out of fog and clouds. With a friend we went from the hunting hut, over Lastovec to Deska. Conditions for skiing unsuitable, snow windblown, or too little of it. For walking alone excellent. Recommend having full winter gear (crampons, ice axe), because at many places snow is iced or frozen and without crampons practically can't go. On our tour avalanche danger none at all. Met one with board who descended from Deska, for mates said that somewhere on path to Veliki vrh left skis and went without to summit, couldn't ski. Safe in mountains and much enjoyment in holiday days.

Yesterday first time on touring skis, and that a bit around Golte. Snow is for now rather little, more as a sample. Whoever doesn't mind their skis and skins, and has a strong winter desire, can satisfy first touring ski needs. Otherwise not recommended. Saturday new batch of snow and probably better chance of sliding downhill without scraping under skis. Best, David.

Janezs thanks for the reply. I already checked the path condition from Slemena to Govca today by myself. No snow, path is in good condition, just a few broken branches or dry twigs in places. But a medium strong south-westerly spoiled the spring idyll. However the day was to be taken advantage of. Lp.

You mention that from Zg. Slemena to the ridge there's still some snow. Does it pose an obstacle, is ice axe, crampons, gaiters needed...? I know the path, in summer it's a walk, in winter something completely different. True, it's already a week around, but any info welcome. Lp.

JTrogar: I'm interested if it's possible to do a loop on Golte with touring skis. For example up Beli Zajec, to Treh Plotov and down the ski slope to the hotel. Thanks for the reply and best regards.
