Although it's hard for me every time to get up early, when I go to the mountains, the effort is always rewarded again nasmeh.
On Thursday, December 22, after 3 weeks of hill wandering it was nicest to visit the heights again. Let it be Krn; the decision fell. Starting point: pl. Kuhinja, which was completely dry. On pl. Slapnik there was snow just for a sample. Pl. Zaslap at 1360m was slightly whiter, but grass and rocks were still sticking out persistently. A bit higher up, the grass and rock colors became less; they were replaced by snowy white. Temperature about a degree below zero, although the little sun was already cheerfully looking down from the sky.
Snow frozen and adorned with a shiny icy layer that can, in a moment of carelessness, carry you straight to the valley without prior agreement. Oh, you "roof", you really have your charm mežikanje. Only in places where it was windblown was the snow softer and did not hold the body's weight. Gomišček hut like a fairy-tale land ... every time I am glad to be able to admire nature's beautiful play.
Descent to the valley without peculiarities; the upper part of the path had partly softened and sunk a little; in the lower part of the snowfield, to which the sun devoted heating for a shorter part of the day than at the top, the snow was still hard and icy.
It looked as if the two of us were the only ones on the summit that day. With a smile that lasts velik nasmeh.

February winter one, three weeks ago summer one also from Mač, yesterday yet another wonderful velik nasmeh circular. The friend is to 'blame' who threw me the bone, I didn't need to say it twice... I was already looking forward to it.

From Mač we started just before six. Uffff, not only the days, the mornings are warm too, if the step is fast they become too hot too quickly. At 8.30 we stood on the top for the first time. Descent over Škarjev Rob to Dom pod Storžičem, back through Žrelo. After good 6 and a half hours we stood on the top for the second time nasmeh. It was so very hot zavijanje z očmi that I thought if one really needs to get used to hell, but the feelings were divine anyway. And the beer at Kališče well deserved mežikanje.

There were not many visitors, maybe we met 10 on the whole path who were sweating according to the temperature. Almost 6l of liquid went down my throat, and more would have, otherwise the whole path except the heat had no special features. The one a week ago to Kokrško Kočno and over Jezerska to Grintovec was nice, this one to Storžič unrepeatable, though... maybe sometime again cool.

Ps. I have to admit that the photos this time are nothing special, so I won't spoil the average here (they remain only as evidence).

gregcs1, those photos of yours are really something special, bravo mežikanje.
But the thread after record temperatures 14 days ago kind of died zmeden. Back then in the middle of the day on the way back to the valley we met crowds of enthusiastic hikers loaded with skis, boards, backpacks, without, ... who wanted to feel 5 degrees on Kredarica and a bit less on Triglav on their own skin, now ..... real winter again nasmeh.
A few more impressions from 14 days ago.

Almost forgot zavijanje z očmi ... could someone be so kind to get rid of a pen on the way to Grintovec at Cojzova hut? Book is there, but nothing to write with.
Thanks mežikanje!

Those who were on Grintovec on Tuesday caught the sun by the tail, we yesterday's were too late. Never mind, mountains have their charm in a slightly different way too jezik. Anyway nothing else was expected, weather forecast promised worsening. Before noon the peak was wrapped in clouds, visibility none, around ears mercilessly howling and carrying snow. Temperature dropped and by return to saddle an hour later there was already about 2cm new snow. Everything was white also where paths via Taška (up it was bare) and old path split. Since wet snow whitened wooden steps didn't seem safe to me, we chose longer path.
That was yesterday, today maybe already quite different zmeden.

Uh, thanks, viharnik mežikanje, I didn't even look at the pictures ... yeah, yeah, Veliki Pršivec interests me. But I had in mind the path from Krma via pl. Zg. Krma (towards V. Pršivec I turn right already quite before Dovški vratci).
Hope someone with fresh info turns up nasmeh.

Since Veliki Pršivec is supposed to be quite unvisited (and I'd like to climb to the real summit nasmeh), I'm curious: has anyone been up there recently, are there any tracks from where the path branches off from the one to Rjavina?

I got to the top today without crampons (I had them in the backpack just in case), but I'd recommend them, at least in the lower shady part of the trail by the ski slope up to the saddle where the snow is frozen.
From the saddle to the top it was softened. The sun was shining quite well, so some were in short sleeves nasmeh.

Yesterday was another such day velik nasmeh. With a friend we went from Črni kal over Prva ravna and it was super for walking. The path was trodden and frozen, no need for crampons and on the top despite the sharp wind the sun was shining nasmeh. There were quite a few visitors, in half an hour, as long as I was there around the top, nearly ten. Great preparations for something higher nasmeh!

Sunnasmeh was already calling into nature early in the morning. Last week's failed attempt on Storžič got another chance today.
Since it was a holiday, from Mač to Kališče it was a real ant hill. Overnight a little snow fell and the later the hour, the more the path resembled a skating rink. Short break at Dom na Kališču. Information on today's forerunners was scarce. One turned back at one-third of the way to the Storžič summit, some went to Bašelj peak.
"Nothing, let's go check," my friend and I agreed, we can always turn back. We started with crampons on and ice axe on the backpack. The higher we climbed above Bašelj pass, the more snow there was. Powder snow, below already well processed snow. In places it sank to the knees and more, higher up the soft terrain mixed with rocks sticking out of the snow and icy patches, and it was time for crampons.
On the way we met two more hikers returning from the summit who made a track for us velik nasmeh. Towards the summit the snow became firmer and the path more pleasant, we were grinning.
Really nice hike nasmeh. No doubt, tonight we'll sleep well mežikanje.
