This was a more random than a planned trip, as I first thought just to Skuta and back, but the great weather and feeling prepared me to do this fairly long and fairly demanding route.

The trip started in Logarska on Friday (27.8.) just after 6 a.m. Already in Turski gully, I decided to extend my hike to Skuta with a visit to Turska gora. big Since the sun was pleasantly warming me, I stayed on top more than 1 hour, so I headed to Skuta only around 10 and arrived just before 11. There were already lots of people, so I found a quiet spot a bit below the summit for my meditation tongue, to which, together with taking photos and observing, I dedicated about 2.5 hours.

When time to go came, instead of the same way back I chose the one past the bivouac to Cojzova hut. At the junction between the path to the bivouac and to Dolgi hrbet, after a short consideration I decided for the latter, as it suspiciously beckoned me.

On the way I met two chamois (one older), which were just digging their "little bed" for rest and chewing the cud. big

I arrived at the top of Dolgi hrbet around 3 p.m. After a half-hour break I slowly went down and when the last chance for descent past the bivouac presented itself, I rather chose the Czech hut, because I really wanted to see the sunset. wink

Due to a half-hour (or more) cooldown at a nice stream, I reached the Czech hut just before 6 p.m. redface Though I knew the night would catch me before I reached Mala Rinka (mostly because of photographing the sunset tongue ), after a short break at the Czech hut I decided to get back to Logarska the same day. The decision was (of course) right, as I experienced a spectacular sunset. Thanks to the moon, the night after sunset was also very interesting (and not too dark wink).

In short, I was at Mala Rinka just after 9 p.m. The descent was very difficult because of the wind, which sometimes even moved me (if I hadn't had poles...). I was really glad when I reached Turski gully, as the wind had died down there and it was pleasantly warm.

Because of lying under the moon near Okrešelj, I got to the car around 2 a.m. the next day. big

In short, an extraordinary route - I warmly recommend it to all well-prepared people.

NOTE: Although I spent 20 hours on this route, it can be done in much less time if you don't have as many stops as I did big

I usually bivouac without tent (only in summer). Just sleeping bag and thermo mat underneath. Find windless spot and that's it. Very early morning get up and chase sunrises. jezik

Animals yes there are. Especially below Bovec at Gamsovec various ibex and chamois walked around me all night. velik nasmeh

@bojann: There are usually fewer predators than prey. Mice are especially known to reproduce fast (much faster than snakes and other predators). Otherwise they'd be gone long ago, many predators feed on them (raptors, snakes, foxes, cats...). Otherwise, as lynx says: Predators follow prey. Where mice are, snakes will be too.
Lothar22. 07. 2012 02:15:38
Don't snakes feed on mice too? Then it's logical that there are more snakes too. wink

Cyclists don't bother me and never have. But various "hotheads" bother me, who ride motocross bikes on forest mountain paths (mainly talking about Karavanke and Pohorje, where the terrain is most suitable for these adrenaline addicts). Goodbye peace, fresh air and animal watching. And some like to ride off the marked paths... don't get me started. zavijanje z očmi

I go via LT many times too, but in the opposite direction. Up from Begunje on the marked path to the top and back via the trata. Tour for any weather and any season (in winter recommend mini crampons if there's a little snow velik nasmeh).

@o_O: It really is a stone marten. velik nasmeh Don't know why I only looked for martens.

I'll correct it. jezik Thanks!

On Wednesday I went Hanz's to MM then along the ridge ahead to the edge of Velika Dnina. Original plan was whole ridge to Šit, but since fog hung there all day, I decided to spice up the tour differently, namely instead of marked path under Velika Dnina, back along trail directly under mighty Mojstrovke ridge. Best on this path is there is none, or very hard to spot. velik nasmeh Every now and then some cairn... that's all. Rocks huge, from gigantic to tiniest. Some climbing too, but nothing special demanding. "Path" wild and cut off from world. Animals plenty (mainly chamois, though marmots, ravens, martens etc too), people none. velik nasmeh Walking various screes and rocky parts fairly tiring, but think more than worth it.

I'll return here. mežikanje

Everything seems less and less logical to me. mežikanje

Otherwise, excellent trip and great weather. If there are a few clouds and some fog it's even more interesting. jezik

Anywhere a bit higher will do. Viševnik is a good choice (just probably can't see the very first sun rays, as the sun currently rises behind the mountains... best sunrises on Viševnik in winter). Also Karavanke peaks (Begunjščica, Vrtača, Stol...) are suitable for observing the moon and the sunrise. If snow is no problem for you, you can go even higher (like Mangart, since you can drive quite high by car). big Only if the weather is good. wink Probably no rain.. but maybe cloudy.
Lothar17. 02. 2012 01:47:48
Prisojnik sounds nicer to me, so I use that name. velik nasmeh Otherwise I also like this: "We still think the most heartwarming idea from Marijana and Marko is to climb Prisank from the north, Prisojnik from the south." So everyone's happy. jezik

Oh, and congrats to Ajda and Žan. I'd be happy too if I could start going to the mountains earlier. But it's never too late. mežikanje
Lothar13. 01. 2012 01:31:07
Vrtača is beauty, yes. Especially winter, when fully covered in snow. This year December, right after snowfall. Winter far from end (or even started? velik nasmeh), so best still coming. mežikanje

@Volk: I think I saw your headlamp from afar as I was slowly descending to Cojzova. It really was a beautiful evening. I wasn't in a hurry anywhere, even though darkness was very close. I even waited more than an hour for the sunset. velik nasmeh

I go to the mountains mainly to be in nature. I rarely go to huts. To Roblek I don't go the normal path but directly through the forest. When possible, I prefer from Tinčkova hut, as the path there is much more pleasant and less like a mountaineering highway. mežikanje

Otherwise, @tisa: Isn't it exactly the one who carries the log up who is a recreationalist? After all, carrying burns more calories than carrying nothing. jezik Otherwise I also like to pick up trash after various pigs. Logs up I haven't carried yet (except once when I was little :p), as opportunities were few. If that makes me a recreationalist without mountaineering soul, then so be it. I know best in myself who I am.

But probably the time for logs to Roblek will come too. For new year I'll probably go again to the top of Begunjščica, if weather allows. Then I usually stop a bit in the hut, so that would be ideal time. But everything depends on conditions... last year they were so ideal that I went up straight through Kalvarija (otherwise in winter avalanche area), so no logs. velik nasmeh
Lothar12. 12. 2011 11:48:37
What, now is everyone who decides to go to Roblek obliged to carry wood up? But that's not true, come on. Nowadays really anything you do (even if you do nothing) can be wrong to someone. zavijanje z očmi Let those carry who like it. As far as I know there are enough of them, they haven't run out of wood yet. Complain then when no one will want to carry anymore. That of course won't happen. mežikanje
Lothar2. 12. 2011 00:52:27
Super! I see I'm not the only one who likes waiting for sunsets (and sometimes sunrises too, if I'm not too lazy big grin)
