Last fall, as part of the Life on Mars Trail running path at the eastern end of Pag, they also opened a new sports via ferrata. Starting point is Ručica beach near Metajna village, access takes one hour. The via ferrata has no elevation gain, about 100 meters long. I can't give a grade, but it overhangs most of the time. Route setters recommend self-belay kit with lanyard for resting. Gloves certainly welcome due to hanging on cables. I belayed myself more improvisationally, fall in worst case ends with splash into not very dangerous sea right below. As you can read in my experiential report, you can rethink halfway on via ferrata. From via ferrata continue on markings to nice Malin beach, or if desired pathless through killer Pag rocky terrain to Cape Krištofor.

Highest peak of the Apennines (2912 m), in the Gran Sasso group, additionally easily accessible Monte Aquila (2495 m). Report at https://www.mojstr.si/2020/08/najvisji-corno.html.

Yesterday we went from the gravel pit (road normally drivable) to Medvedja Cave. Below the hunting hut there are some fallen trees, but they can all be nicely bypassed. We wanted to continue along the transverse hunting trail towards Dedec. We got approximately to the halfway point, where the fallen spruces started. We climbed/stumbled over two, but at the third we turned back - after all, we were with children and didn't know what the situation was like further ahead. Some tough guy with a motorbike would definitely be welcome there.

On Friday before afternoon thunderstorm we explored gullies and overgrown slopes above most famous Fratarica waterfalls. Can confirm path drawn in MaPZS is correct - hard to say well trodden, but followable. Not on Planinica, but close. More here.

@Trobec Obviously we really met. Now I get why you were so long on top of highest Gamsovka ... Did you hand out ice axes then?

Well, probably a matter of interpretation what one still sees as detour. We didn't go much more than ten or twenty meters below the edge, but we were mostly on the south side. We followed trodden tracks everywhere, so not first or only there. True, none of us loves balancing on the edge enough to strictly push the crest line... Let who feels good on it take it, we were happy that way too.

On Saturday we traversed the ridge from Tolste Košute via Gamsovke to Košutnikov Turn. Due to family circumstances none of us was particularly mentally psyched for climbing, we took quite some time for the traverse, the terrain is mostly very loose and exposed. At the belay for the (optional) rope descent there was a brand new auxiliary cord. Great day, some pics are here.

Last week I treated myself to a quick afternoon hike, up via Kuklarje and down via Rigelj. Both paths are nicely passable, even though not quite untouched since last August. Some pics and short report you can find here.

Yesterday, 3. 9. 2023, the path was without issues - at least for the first hour of ascent, to that jump under Veliki greben or caves above it. Further on it didn't seem like anything was destroyed. Road to Konec is also fine.

I too on Saturday wondered at the serrated tracks of predecessors in Šentanski plaz. Why anyone in current or then čofti would use crampons, I really don't get. I went up no problem without (ice axe on backpack, no mistake), and it didn't seem the least bit risky. The biggest danger was sinking to the waist in the summit part...

We were there in January, before the snowfall. The hut looked abandoned.

I don't know about Snežnik, but during the holidays we were on the neighboring Croatian Snježnik. Everything was dry, just some snow patches around the summit. All winter gear would be unnecessary. I assume not much has changed since then.

On Saturday we finally treated ourselves to the approach from Račka Gates to Raduha. Hard to give objective ratings, but subjectively - I don't know a nicer path of this difficulty level around here yet! Obviously there are so many variants around there that I'll gladly return ... Some impressions are here.

I had a similar experience yesterday too. The sign that parking was full was on both before 6am and 1pm, but space was available both times. At least in this setup the sign is counterproductive - no matter what it says, obviously worth checking if there's space in Vrata ... Currently better if it wasn't there at all.

Apparently we are the first after Igor's report from 8 years ago to visit this wonderful solitary Carnic mountain. We tackled it right via Zlodejeva route as we named it because the normal approach obviously comes even more from the east. Otherwise it's quite a complex adventure recommended for all who like isolated peaks abandoned paths and crumbly climbing to II grade. And some sense for scouting the right route of course. Photos and report on the blog.
