I often read reports about our rescuers' interventions in the mountains. But I'm increasingly wondering why some rescues aren't started to be charged to irresponsible hikers... The last thing that bothered me was the GRS Kranjska Gora report, which went: "At 15.40 on the way to Prisojnik in the municipality of Kranjska Gora, two hikers couldn't continue the path due to snow. Rescuers from GRS Kranjska Gora and the joint HNMP and GRS Brnik team transported the uninjured hikers to the valley with the Slovenian Army helicopter." It's known that snow fell in the mountains and it's also known how to be equipped in such conditions etc etc... Some time ago (a year or two back) I read how the HNMP team was rescuing a dog that got "lost" in the brush (dogs should be on a leash!)... It's sad that some go to the mountains already with that purpose, that a helicopter will take them back to the valley if they can't manage the tour (some apparently called GRS because they didn't have enough water) such adventures at the expense of GRS and us taxpayers are more and more every day and it would be right to charge such interventions! I'm extremely glad we have GRS but I pity the guys because they have to be available every moment due to the stupidity of individuals who think they are hikers! Ultimately, quite a few GRS members have died in mountain interventions...

I'm deciding to buy a sports watch: Suunto Ambit 2 or Garmin Fenix 2. I would be grateful for opinions, experiences, arguments for or against one or the other model. Thanks.

I'm not taking anyone's side because I don't know the details, responding only to @Klinar27's comment: that everyone can do whatever they want on their land just doesn't hold. Someone can't build a house on their land just because it's theirs without getting a building permit. Moreover, even if someone is say the owner of a house that's e.g. monument protected, they can't demolish, renovate it etc... without proper permits... in short, it's not that simple...

@Kafetarca, if I read right, you read nothing wrong... and why so surprised that the tour was 2 days long? Bravo @bos&Co. ... I too hiked to mountains with kids and many tours that are normally done in one day, if possible we split into two days and enjoyed it a lot. Wish you luck for many more nice moments with your sons!

@miri, why useless? True, I prefer a post with some introductory sentences and captions under photos too, but a contribution without that is not trash. I just looked at the photos, they attracted me and sparked interest, so I typed "Kamačnik gorge" into Google and got the info I wanted. Is it really that hard and do we have to serve everything to everyone on a platter? Thanks @blagus for the post, learned something new.

@drapr, couldn't agree more. And not just regarding hiking across Pohorje, I don't understand high mountain feats, crossings, record setting where someone needs full logistics, support team supplying food, clothes, accompanying on parts of the trail, all for one record...? I get that for someone it's a challenge to hike/run a trail in shortest time, but then let him do it alone, with backpack carrying everything needed on the trail, even for multi-day. That's something and to such I can tip my hat and sincerely congratulate... everything else is...

@piotr, why again such an unfriendly reply "Why?" Couldn't you simply write "the road is not passable and the parking lot is not cleared". Not only locals go there and not everyone knows what significance some (forest) road has. Many elsewhere are plowed if e.g. it leads to some higher farm or for some other purpose.

@dprapr, I also recently talked to some who no longer post on this site. To the question why, I got some answers that surprised me... too few likes, especially you don't know who likes you... if you post on FB and Instagram at least you know who likes... Just a small note regarding Bagi's elevations... not on one tour were we with my hiking partner careful... he measured 1700, all others who hiked there only 1300, and there were no mentioned extra "detours"... We are just planning to repeat some of their tours and measure elevations... the point is only that someone might get scared of these many elevations, which maybe aren't that many in reality, and not go on a tour they're convinced they can't manage...

Well, @dprapr, "statistically" your observation is correct, but as far as I'm concerned, my hiking partner actively posted for many years, who is also very rarely present on the forum now, but we never in the same thread for the same tour posted one after the other each one's own photos as I often see happening. As if Mateja and Emil would post each one's own report?! Otherwise, so we don't stray too far, in recent years Emil is definitely one of those who posts the most useful reports, which I read with pleasure.

I agree that there were more posts on the forum a few years ago. Many left the forum due to constant criticism and provocations from those still active on the forum, especially in commenting, less posting. Back then there were no blogs or they were rare. I know quite a few former forumers who started writing blogs, but on the forum they just posted a link and were characterized as just advertising their blog. And they stopped. On their blogs they still post, but from here they felt driven away. Shame. I regularly followed responses to blogs and they were very two-faced, some bloggers were praised and still welcome, others, especially younger ones, were like "blowhards"... Shame, but if we're honest, that's how it is. What's the problem with clicking a link and reading and viewing photos, as you would if the post was directly on hribi.net?

Ah again lecturing and a misguided answer to a perfectly short and concise question ... @Janezs if you followed the forum regularly you'd know @felix is an experienced mountaineer with lots of mileage... even if not... someone just doesn't want to break trail and asks only if the track is made... is it so hard to simply answer "track is there" or "no track"... or stay quiet if you don't know...

This time I agree with @redbull. Real winter has just properly started, countless such and similar questions will come in the coming months. Wouldn't it be better to kindly answer if someone has a lot of experience with some area or peak in various conditions, rather than something off the top of one's head and completely general... Usually the smartest are those who did some course and now repeat the same thing like parrots... Anyway @lencka... didn't they tell you on the course (I assume you attended) that "sneakers" don't belong in high mountains? You have at least two photos from Kredarica with poles and small crampons. Don't know if it's you in the photo, but based on the closeness of the frame it's surely someone from your group... didn't you teach him what equipment to use in high mountains in winter conditions? Before lecturing others, let's first sweep in front of our own door! Good luck!

@jprim - where were you 14 days ago? In Krma or at Soriska pl.? As far as I know, there is no Kovinarska hut at the latter?
