Today from Jesenice over planina Otavnik. Ground wet due to yesterday's rain. Quite a few visitors, but I think many only went to the shepherd's hut, which certainly doesn't deserve the name, as it doesn't resemble a hut at all. Large building, nicely kept, flowers in the windows... Met several acquaintances, with whom you have to exchange a few words. Below the summit I admire a patch of alpine sowthistle. Lots of it. Crowded at the top, mostly young families and a tent, probably radio operators. On the way back treated myself to some raspberries too.

Today early in the morning from planina Polog to the Tolminka spring at Prehodci. The markers have done exemplary work . On the steep part below the summit a nicely arranged wide path. Two poles are already installed, on which they will put directional signs, so the turn-off to planina Lašca will be well visible. I always like this tour, as you hardly meet anyone, complete wilderness. From Prehodci I head left towards Krn. Also planned to look closer at the bunkers looming above the path, but due to increasing cloudiness I change my mind and continue to the pyramid and on towards Vrh nad Peski. I meet the only living soul heading under Bogatin. Across the scree I climb to the summit. Return via Lužnica valley and Zatolmin pastures to the starting point at planina Polog.

Užitkar. Descent from Mahavšček to Dobrenjščica, then to planina na Kalu, under the stables to the forest, right to the hunting hut, then along marked trail over the ridge to Čadrg. Through the village, then across meadow below the village, through forest on trail to Tolminka and across pasture to the road leading to Polog. From here about 1km to parking in Polog. Or from Mahavšček along ridge to Tolminski Kuk, over Migovec to planina Kal and on to Čadrg. I did this route in reverse. Nice and enjoyable tour. Recommend.

Too bad Igor, that I didn't meet you. I believe you could tell me a lot about this mountain. Safe steps ahead.

Summit worthy of all respect. Due to its difficulty alone, especially because of the history. I just stood there trying to imagine life up there in the hot summer sun and cold winter.
Back then the mountain was more alive. Today I met only one female hiker. The sheep on the summit wanted my company. Especially the ram was bold, ramming into me.

This morning before the rain on the summit. Italians left their track. Conditions excellent for good pace. Hut is open. When I sat in the car after the tour, it started drizzling.

Ridge traverse Škrbina - Bogatin

Day for gods. Still enough fitness, though last year I rested more.
Early morning start from Tolminske Ravne. Chose unmarked locals' path but soon realized I had missed it, so continued by feel to path from Spodnji Kal to Razor. Continued to Razor, at first junction to Škrbina, where part of scree still under snow - easier walking, snow sinks just right for safe steps.
At Škrbina cooled by wind from Bohinj side, which strengthened during the day.
Under Podrta gora still large snowfield, but not icy, so crampons stay in pack. Ridge from Tolmin Kuk to Bogatin snow-free, path and views pure enjoyment.
From Bogatin saddle straight off-trail down to kasarne which I always admire.
From there path easy, except descent to Dobrenjščica and then regaining height. Stop at chapel on Hudi klanec, avoided small snow slide in gully under Tol. Kuk and soon at pl. Kal. Quick descent to car and tour done.

Yesterday I went to check my condition on a circular tour pl. Lom- pl. Kuk- pl. Razor- Vogel- Zabijski kuk- pl. Kuk. The whole way a cuckoo accompanied me, but I didn't see it. I paid more attention to the flowers waking up and enjoyed realizing that spring is also coming to the high mountains and soon I can climb higher. The walk was pleasant, in the sun already quite hot.
On the way to Vogel there are some patches of snow, which don't pose much danger, except at the sides where there's a hole under the snow and it can break through and the foot gets stuck in the scree. At the top there was no sun, Triglav and neighbors were hiding in the fog.
The path to Zabijski kuk is pleasant, scenic, with some sights along it. But the descent from Zabijski kuk is quite demanding, requires a lot of attention, especially on the scree. But I missed the path- I lost the trail on some clearing and descended to the road leading to pl. Razor blindly through the forest. Now I'm tempted to go in the opposite direction to see where I missed it, but I don't know where on pl. Kuk the path starts, as there are paths everywhere made by livestock on the pasture. If someone knows please write to me at least approximately where to look for the start of the path.

Finally after a long time it worked out for me again; free Sunday and wonderful sunny day.
You can get almost to the trough by car, just not much parking space.
Snow was still firm in the morning and walking pleasant therefore. The sunshine met me deep in the forest and softened the snow blanket. The predecessor's footprints were just right, who very smartly used snowshoes. On the ridge to the summit however the snow is windblown and dwarf pines will bloom soon.
Descent was fast, although sometimes sank quite deep.

This morning there's a fire on the top again.

I used two wonderful free days. On Wednesday I headed to Kobilja glava. Road to Ljubinjske Ravne is dry. From there along the marked path to pl. Stador. Path very muddy at the beginning due to timber extraction, a bit of snow too, so walking a bit unpleasant. With altitude more snow, walking becomes a pleasure, especially with such views. Sometimes wading up to the knees, windy on top. Returned along the ridge to pl. Lom and back to the start.
Yesterday with a friend to pl. Razor. A few cars reached Lom, beyond no human tracks, so we alone enjoyed the snow whiteness and sky blueness. Snow dry and walking pleasant, watch the road to pl. Lom where some wheel tracks are icy. Already tomorrow everything will be different, as a new batch of snow is coming.

I used another free day and climbed it. Had it in mind for long. Start not promising, fog up to planina Zapleč. Higher wonderful day. On ridge path still some snow, but doesn't hinder much. Views great, only fog from Soča valley gradually covered slopes.
