Matterhorn / Monte Cervino

Hi!
I haven't been to Matterhorn myself and it's interesting to me that even though you've been there you need guiding!?
Personally I'd go in July, as soon as there's nice stable weather, costs would be fair to split equally!

I needed jumar and figure-eight.
60m rope is also needed.
At the necessary places there is belay for rope at descent.
But extreme caution is needed when choosing barely noticeable paths, because it can quickly happen that you go from dangerous area to very dangerous area.

This happens if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fall of the Austrian, 600m down the slope.3

You also have to see such a picture. To remind you that caution is needed in mountains.
Didn't survive.

What kind of question, of course he didn't survive, the question is if even some whole bone remained.

Hello

Is anyone going to Matterhorn this year?
Last year I was on a reconnaissance trip, this year I'd like to summit the most beautiful mountain in the world.

best regards Bine

Hello! My friend and I plan to go to Matterhorn in July. I need some useful info. How? What? Why? I have info that local guides removed all markings and signs. Is that true? Has anyone been to Matterhorn in the last year or two? All info would be useful. Thanks!

Interesting that the discussion about Matterhorn has been going on for five years in the Current conditions / Julian Alps section. Why not under Together to the mountains? otherwise Karavanke are equally far?nasmeh

hello!

I was at Matterhorn exactly 10 years ago, 29.07.2004 roped with two licensed guides, what all they had I really don't know anymore, nor was I paying that much attention then.

Anyway it was by far the best, best, best trip and achievement so far for me. Mont Blanc doesn't even reach its knees, etc...

Last week of June and first week of July I'll have vacation, so please if anyone is going let me know, I'm right there and happily contribute my share of transport or even drive. It would be enough for me to just see it live again and explore the whole area around this King of mountains! Matterhorn is a mountain you can't miss, no other mountain covers or touches it, already the first time you see it, it stays in your memory for life and is like a magnet pulling you to it....mežikanje

If anyone goes from 23.06 to 04.07 I'm in, please 040 451 818 Uroš

But I heard they demolished Hornlihutte hut and are building a new one, need to check that beforehand.zadrega

Interesting, good info.

Given that I've already summited it, and these years I've been diligently climbing and conquering various mighty peaks the price of 1000e is absolutely too much for me, also considering my wallet, honestly.

If at least two or three of us get together and split all costs equally, it will be much cheaper, of course with someone who knows how to belay and maybe knows it even better than me or has been there recently.nasmeh

Likewise I climbed the German route in the North Triglav Wall last year for only 80e! Licensed guide wanted 300e, absolutely too much, since with me he didn't have any hard work and it was unforgettable.

I don't see the problem! If you've already been up... If the long German didn't make problems then on Matterhorn you shouldn't have them either..

Yeah the path is a bit poorly marked. I suggest tent and sleep before hut. And start between all guides... Can't miss if fitness is on level...

If you sleep in hut they'll let you down last...and your group will leave you..because Swiss chase them like wild pigs..sorry for expression

For down apparently fixed new path. Abseil nonstop... Otherwise same down...

Yeah and Matterhorn guidebook can't share.

I don't know how it is now on Matterhorn, but from that ascent 10 years ago I know something: up I surely get there, no problems, even alone I'd succeedvelik nasmeh, down though I think not. Under Matterhorn summit at place called ''shoulder'' I had quite some problems and there alone couldn't climb downmrk pogled, at least not then, further all ok again. On the top of this ''king of mountains'' there was and probably still fixed rope.

If someone has pics how it is now around ''shoulder'' area I'd kindly askzavijanje z očmi. Then guides roped me and lowered few meters to safe spot under shouldereek.Further assault down again, no problems, just that ''shoulder''.

Thanks for all answers. UROS1 we'll talk for additional info, we're also interested in possible joint hike.

Yeah nice, thanks. We must do one joint tour to get acquainted. ''... for possible joint hike''... - no way, for possible joint venture on ''king'', no hiking, pure climbing, we must get also one alpinist with knowledge of belaying and rope technique. This one we can treat transport, right???zavijanje z očmi
