Edit: sorry, in between I saw Petrol also offers this: http://www.petrol.si/hi-tec Here's what I'll say: I have some doubts about waterproofness, comfort and durability of these backpacks. On the other hand, the second last sentence of my previous post holds: if you're curious, risk it. If it suits you, you get a backpack almost for free, otherwise you don't lose much.

well I wasn't closer than 2 meters but this Petrol one already looks "plastic-cheap" from that distance. Don't skimp on a backpack, your back will thank you

How to get the Simond alpinism 22 backpack, which in Decathlon store (Trieste or online) costs 20 EUR, but they don't ship abroad. In Gornik store here it's 31 EUR, elsewhere not sold. No routes to Trieste, so Gornik will make a nice profit.

I think for a one-day summer hike a 25-liter backpack is more than enough, but everyone knows best for themselves !!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have experience with Deuter Guide or Black Diamond Speed? Besides these two I'm also checking out Osprey Mutant. Thanks in advance for any opinion.

Deuter is Mercedes among backpacks. It's made perfectly. I have the Guide and it's meant for alpinism (as few side pockets and various straps as possible that could get caught in the wall, still just right for attaching gear and of course the back system). Choice of backpack of course depends on what you need it for.

Mainly it depends on what you need it for. For some things it's great for others bad. 65L is really huge capacity though.

I can't comment on the brands themselves. Given the mentioned capacity (65l) it's a hiking, as already written in the description, trekking backpack. So suitability? Multi-day trips on easier access paths, travel backpack. Over the years you collect quite a few backpacks. From 25 up to 75 liters. Only from experience you pick the right one. lp

I'm a scout so I need a durable and big backpack, had 55 l and it was too small. I'm interested in durability of such backpacks and quality felt when carrying. lp

Hi. I'm interested in which backpack you recommend for one- to multi-day hikes. I've eyed these two models: Deuter Guide 42+ EL or Deuter Futura Pro 44 EL Which model is more suitable for e.g. summer Triglav, Jalovec, Mangart, Pohorje crossing and similar? Is it right to take EL (extra length) since I'm tall? How is this handled by other companies/models? Thanks for answers. Lp, Aleš
