Then you should have opened the discussion under this title, otherwise the direct path is again some invention, nobody in Trenta knows this term.

Triglavski, you are really strict. Legenda just read from Hribi.net and he couldn't know about the "invention". You describe all your ascents nicely, really nicely. Be a little more tolerant, and you'll be "superman".

Monter, it's not about strictness because it's not needed, but to some users I want to say that the portal already has quite an extensive collection with lots of useful data, (of course not the only one where you get info on hills and mountains), so some questions are pointless. Maybe Viharnik should make some guide on how to "search". Of course with such "weird" questions I always doubt how some manage in mountains when they don't even do well at the computer. Legenda, usually there are more paths to each mountain, so specify the concrete one, then the answer is easier.

To avoid misunderstanding, Triglavski and others, I'm not a hunter, almost became one once... then I preferred to join the then alpine club Turnc under Šmarna gora in '85 in Vikrče. The heartfelt wish and path stayed in the background after my father's death and mom's warnings. Later I joined Karate SANKUKAI, which took me to different but deep self-recognitions -(moder kju). Remember Tom Česna's book - SAM?

Triglavski, I know and have walked all marked paths on Bavški Grintavec. This year I haven't been to the top yet, so I just wanted useful info on current conditions on the path listed on Hribi.net. Anyway, I do well in front of the computer, but I know I won't manage in mountains as well as you. That's why I ask and expect a proper answer. Also, I follow your posts daily which are really excellent, but if you don't want to answer questions that are pointless to you and better suit a quiz, then I don't need pointless comments either. Best regards Legenda

Also my comment, which doesn't relate to Bavški Grintavec but to triglavski's comments; he already 'scolded' me too, and I'd say once more: more patience to less experienced others, because in comments there's a slight tone of disdain, which I think doesn't belong here. Or now there are too many hikers and mountaineers on various mountain paths and Mr. triglavski isn't alone in high mountains anymore. Is this perhaps the cause of such humiliating comments or just bad days again. LP! Jelica

It's not about disdain here. Triglavski nicely said that there's no "direct" path from Zapodna and I believe they don't know it by that term in Trenta. There is however a path over sedlo Kanja 2030m and the classic one on scree and oval cirque to the left and joins the previous, harder one on the ridge. Given the justified doubt about which path it is, Triglavski, who knows the paths in detail, can't agree or express it.

Be concrete and you'll get concrete answers, if I happen to know of course, since even chamois don't bring me info, jprim let me comfort you, no bad days, best regards

Come on then, let the administrator change the excursion or path to the right name if it bothers you that much

"That thing"??? is Bavarian Grintavec, Srebrnjak and Trentski Pelc (from right to left). The valley below is Zadnja Trenta (Zapoden).

This weekend we plan to go up from Zadnja Trenta ... then via ferrata and then down to Bavšica. Anyone been up there recently? Curious about the conditions. Thx and LP, borut

The path from Zadnja Trenta over Kanski preval to the summit is dry, fixed protections OK, lots of new scree on the path so careful. I descended to Soča, but based on what I saw I assume snow patches still on path to Bavšica. LP, Matej

From B. Grintavec to Bavšica there are two descents, one via Kanja with some larger snowfields towards Bukovec, the other along ridge to Vrh Brda and down to planina Bukovec. The ridge part is dry, above Bukovec there might still be some snowfield. But there is still snow in Tesna under the hunter hut Bukovec almost all the way to Bavšica.

Can one really get to the summit from Soča village in 4.5 hours? Isn't that a bit unrealistic or am I wrong?

I was at the summit on Sunday up and down from Soča village. Took me 5 hours to summit cuz I don't walk fast, plus 15 min break in between. So believe it can be faster.

What about in the Bavšica valley, would ice axe suffice or also crampons? Thx and LP

Is the path from Soča village to the summit dangerous like the one from Trenta supposedly is? I haven't been yet, I'd like to go sometime, wondering which one you recommend more, I'm not some great mountaineer, mainly worried if terrain is more exposed than if there are some pegs lp?
