@zlatica, the šoja was photographed through the glass, and it seems to me that detel too. Couldn't do otherwise. The tree is right opposite the window and if I opened it ever so quietly, it flew off right away. Kalin is right from the top of Šmarna gora. First time I saw it in the wild at all... from Tivoli it's kanja...

Today Slovenia was hit by a migration wave of cranes returning to their breeding grounds in northern Europe and Russia. I'm sure some of you saw them. I'm really looking forward to it if you report your observations (date, time, location, no. of individuals (approximate estimate ok too) and flight direction. If there's a photo too, even better
To start I can report my today's observation of more than 8000 birds that migrated in over 10 loud flocks over Javorniki, Notranjska, towards east/NE.

Less than half an hour ago, a small flock - no more than 20 cranes, flight direction upstream along Vipava valley.
