Today's visitors. Great tit and blue tit. I'm finding out that blue tits are more shy. Great tits are not shy at all.

If it has a white patch on the crown, it's not great tit, but coal tit. During nesting season, it likes to come to the hand for a piece of walnut or cheese.

I think the coal tit is smaller and more gray, white, and black in color, without greenish-yellow. It would be nice if some expert described the coal tit better, so we can distinguish it more easily.

That's right, the coal tit is smaller and has a white patch on the nape, white bars on the wings. It also has no yellow or blue color. @stanes, on your photo there are 3 great tits. Walnuts are very suitable food for birds, cheese we better save for ourselves, as it has quite a lot of salt, birds also cannot digest lactose. They also don't encounter such food in nature .

darinka4-nice! Unfortunately greenfinch already the third winter in a row is not at my feeder. Last winter there was significantly fewer visits. No siskins, bullfinches, blue tits, fieldfares, long-tailed tits. Even great spotted woodpeckers were fewer. Usually there were six at once. Probably the cause is mild winter and they still find enough in nature.

Yesterday on walk in stream Rupovščica in village Ilovka noticed pair of ducks that I haven't seen here before. Mallard species always present here. This species though not noticed here before. I think it's middle goosander. That tuft at end of head well visible. Unfortunately photo only with mobile. What do you say?

@velkavrh, yes it's a merganser, specifically common merganser (Mergus merganser), species spreading quite a bit lately to new streams in Slovenia. Left is male, right female.

plezac thanks! Yes, that 'a.' got lost in my text. Now I'll observe if the pair of storks returned to the nest on the chimney of Predoslje primary school. Last year a catastrophe happened because three chicks drowned in the nest.

My friend returned this year without his little wife. Now he continuously looks around in the window, because he is convinced that a new female shows herself to him there. Experts, help him.

@julius, he'll find another . White storks have no permanent partners, so it's very likely that you haven't observed the same individuals every year.
