Yes, Panoramik, we really met and talked at the signposts for Brana and K.sedlo, me down you up. The weather was really wonderful. Lots of people towards Okrešelj when I went down....

How reliable are the weather forecasts?

For tomorrow (Saturday, 20.8.2011) some thunderstorms are forecasted in the mountains in the afternoon, for Kamnik Alps after 3 pm. If we go to Kamnik Saddle with kids from Logar Valley, we'll probably hardly be back in the valley by then despite an early start, so I'm a bit worried.

Thanks for the answers!

Be early enough. Otherwise you know best yourselves what pace the kids can hold, check the timings for this route and approximately you know when you'll be back down and decide. Hard to say anything else. Attaching a link below where you can check the weather a bit more accurately (mountains, hills,..) than those general forecasts.
I personally always check here, also early morning check once more before heading out from home...So far all good. nasmeh
Good luck and stay safe. nasmeh

Be aware that no weather forecast is ever 100% reliable, except of course in very stable weather, which tomorrow won't be.

Yes, I'm aware of that, especially for tomorrow when the forecast changes slightly from day to day. But additional opinions are always welcome, thanks!

One more question - from my memory the path via Okrešelj to the saddle is not very exposed. Maybe only when crossing under Brana wall, so as far as I know helmet is not as essential as e.g. in Turski Gully. Am I wrong?

Personally I highly recommend a helmet. In recent years I've been to K. saddle from Okrešelj only a few times, but down there at the entrance to the rocky part and in the gully it was always falling, once even so much that we ran 100m lower eek (we weren't even in the wall yet). You need to know it's very loaded there and above are paths (to Brana and Turska gora), and sheep sometimes wander above that part. Maybe others don't have such experiences, but I won't go up there without a helmet and others I take with me must have one too.zavijanje z očmi

Helmet recommended. The climbing path is fairly short, but everyone should assess for themselves if they need a helmet. I've experienced a huge rockfall pouring over me right at the start of climbing.

Whoa, thanks for the comments. I've been there 3 times myself, never crumbled and I concluded it's not that problematic.

I'll put bike helmets on the kids and friends. They are more occasional climbers, so investing in helmets isn't really worthwhile.

Yesterday after a long time at Kamnik Saddle without fog, although windy, it was still quite pleasant compared to high temperatures in the valley.
There were quite a few kids on the way to the summit, without helmets. Everyone decides for themselves how much safety in the mountains matters to them.
And safe steps.

Last week we went to Brana from Logar Valley... for me only the second trip to KS Alps. On the way from Kamnik Saddle back towards Okrešelj chamois triggered a sizable pile of rocks over the path, causing some unrest among the abundance of hikers who were crossing that section without helmets... I posted photos on my blog at the link: To Brana from Logar Valley

Today from foggy Ljubljana to Jermance and further past Pastirji to the hut at Kamniško sedlo. Hut open and the offer for this time of year good. After tea and short chat up to Brana. Sunny, at the top a bit cold. Path mostly walkable except a few spots. On return quite a few hikers basking in late autumn sun.

On the north side nicely snow-covered, path trodden if not blown over overnight. Below sinks in places, higher nicely progressable. Top windblown and icy.
