@PFranci, where exactly is this sign, already before the fork to Baba and Kepa? So can you no longer park at the junction for Baba and Kepa or drive to the power plant where standard Baba parking is?

Oops, turbo and Toni-k, you're right. But right after introduction the parking at the church was definitely paid.

But as I understand from this document, the restriction applies only to the road towards Dovška Baba, not also towards Erjavčev rovt, right?? https://obcina.kranjska-gora.si/DownloadFile?id=752616 Or are there actually two traffic ban signs at this junction, one towards Kepa, the other towards Dovška Baba? On the sketch only one sign is drawn, the blue route also shows closure only towards Dovška Baba...

gamsek1. Probably they made a couple extra just in case and now have to place them quickly somewhere ..otherwise yeah, I browsed their site a bit and apparently the forest road "railway" under Trupejeva poldne has also become forbidden fruit. May a horse kick me if those few cars per day were really a problem. I never used the road myself, but I was in these parts a few times and there really wasn't any "mass tourism" to see https://obcina.kranjska-gora.si/DownloadFile?id=752615

A bit of sarcasm: Bravo our locals (all local sheriffs)! Only missing the "law" by which only "foreign gentlemen" will be welcome on all local roads. And look to the past: When I said years ago that we (hikers) won't be welcome soon, they laughed at me. What about today? And tomorrow: Maybe someone will ban walking in hills and valleys too, who knows?

Shame! If anywhere is nice it's the confluence under Erjavčev rov and the trip to Kepa. Where is our country going Easiest is to write a decree and put up a sign and nature is saved... sad

"If anywhere is nice it's the confluence under Erjavčev rov" - that's true and many have figured that out; during my last visit in June 2023 two motorhomes with foreign plates were overnighting on the gravel, making a campsite there. If there are no permits - which I doubt - they got paradise beauty for the best price. Second-hand news from elsewhere in Slovenia say that wild camping motorhomes is linked to dumping cassette toilets into nature and filth. I can only wonder what all happens up there in these hills, especially in high season when prices below are high and campsites crowded. I'm no apologist for the measures, but the impact of tourism and its consequences must be understood beyond the framework of how we hike in the mountains.

gamsek1 then the mentioned wouldn't apply to the road to "gravels" or the confluence where I mentioned? n3jc I completely agree with your thinking, but I claim that the parent organization in connection with municipalities or other organizations could seek or implement more normal solutions for the use of access roads to our hills.

@LISAC: well, judging by this picture (confluence below Erjavčev rov marked with arrow), published in the following document, it seems not? https://obcina.kranjska-gora.si/DownloadFile?id=752616 Namely, it says the regime applies to the forest road (blue on the picture), while the orange one ("important public road") leading to Erjavčev rov is not mentioned??

To avoid misunderstandings. At the junction of roads Baba - Kepa, there are signs for each road separately. So officially during this time you can't go anywhere except on foot or by bike.

I don't know if most younger people on this forum will understand me, but I'd like to say that in my youth it wasn't hard to climb even 1000 meters, today (almost 70s) my knees can manage max 500 m. And that's why it was so good that my husband and I could drive higher and thus enjoy reaching our favorite peaks. I don't know if the decision-makers realize that with restrictive measures they have perhaps most affected those who lived for the mountains much earlier and many of whom helped in maintaining mountain trails, but today regulations prevent them from doing what they loved so much in life. I understand there are problems due to large crowds, but shouldn't decision-makers try harder and find a solution that wouldn't be so discriminatory towards older hikers. After all, all who are young mountain lovers today will one day be older.

mojcula, unfortunately you'll have to adapt to the "current conditions". Why make life harder with these regulations when there are so many options for visiting mountains. But I think the young don't even realize where this leads. If they don't do anything, they'll have to walk very far on foot from former starting points in many places. We did too, but not because of regulations, but due to lower standard.

I PROPOSE that an amendment to the Nature Conservation Act be adopted as soon as possible, which will set rules for the whole country, above all ensuring greater transparency (and honesty) in determining the amount of payments and monitoring the purpose of spending collected funds. And at the end, the law should clearly define that natural assets and protected areas are free for all, except when the minister decides otherwise...
