Following Viharnik's advice, I also chose the road approach. The morning was very cold, but with views of the valleys on the other side you quickly forget the cold...

With altitude, views gain in extent.2

On the prestigious side of Vrata.4

on the richer side the offer from Pihavec to Kukova špica and riches between them.6

On the summit the wind is playing with the snow,9
the offer of views expands to Široko peč, Ponca, Špik...10
all the way to those other Poncs and Mangart above them and further ...11

towards the north,13
and also to the neighboring lady who also awaits a winter visit.14

Today we couldn't afford the time for a longer drive to the starting point, so we set off on a hiking tour to the nearby Karavanke. Dovje were already basking in the sun in the morning and it promised a nice day. We parked on a small parking lot at the hydroelectric plant. At the starting point there were about two centimeters of new powder, no tracks on the path. The views that open up several times along the way are wonderful, the dry snow also increases with altitude. The hard, partly icy base is not bonded, so it's a bit slippery occasionally. About 15 minutes before the Dovška Rožca pasture, sudden fog engulfs us jezen, and suddenly we find ourselves in a deep drift. We struggle with postholing for a while, but when it went up to the waist, we didn't like it at all anymore and turn back. We go a little back and then up a fairly steep slope that was quite wind-packed, straight up to the pasture. Fog persists, can't see anywhere, no wind to disperse it anywhere, so we decide to return after a short rest. We barely put down the backpacks when an unexpected turnaround: fog miraculously clears, sun peeks out, views open up and of course we go to the top. Some places wind-packed, elsewhere we postholed a bit again up to ca. 15 cm snow, strong wind on top, so we just snap photos and return to the pasture where we treat ourselves to a short break. Back we went part of the path along the snowy road, then along the approach direction. Snow in the lower part of the path greatly reduced in a few hours – across the screes of Bela peč it's practically bare, from Goreljše pasture downward the path was already quite muddy in places due to thaw. Really nice day nasmeh.

Volk, you really do wonderful photos, especially the third one. As for Babas, there are apparently really more in our mountains than Grandpas. Haven't been to all yet, but to six already, Grandpas only two so far in my list of summits.mežikanje Happy trails.

A bit late but anyway sunshine. By car it was possible on Thursday to reach križiška, where the path branches to Plavški rovt. Further the path is trodden and driven by snowmobiles and skiers

Yesterday from Erjavčev rovt (artificial lake) to Dolska Baba via Brvog pasture, return via direct path along Mlinca stream gorge.
Nice loop trail, plenty of water on path, towards pl. Rožca some breakable snow, on Baba summitmežikanje strong wind.
Summit stamp seems torn off by ice, quite damaged. P.D.
Trail start from road to Mlinca stream gorge covered by small dense spruces, so the right downward branch a bit hard to spot. Path to gorge bottom slippery due to needles and leaves.
Path along ridge to Hruška pasture bare, on Austrian side still possible to ski a bit.velik nasmeh
Road from Dovje drivable, just some sections with rocks on road and very dusty.(wash after usemrk pogled)greetings.

In today's early Sunday morning, still before the forecasted possible deterioration, I headed up to Dovška Baba; the noticeable grassy plateau from Jerebikovec the day before drew me into a close encounter; the peak sticking into the sky and cut-off on the descriptive pics turned out in reality to be very easy and nice access; start at Ravne (road a bit rough), to Planina Dovška Rožca already nice green grass, crocus flowers in between, but flower lovers wouldn't get their fill yet; higher up the summit itself still clad in dry grass and on the edge with a patch of melting snow; for the blooming narcissus meadow gotta wait a bit morenasmeh; lp

Despite the sunny morning we went without
gorgeous views today, as fog awaited us at the top. But we enjoyed the views of the narcissus-filled meadows all the more. Great trip and easy hike.

It misled me a bit, because you wrote "today", but no snow on pics, which should be there after yesterday's snowfall. Then I opened the pics and saw you were up there on 14.5. not today.

Well today early to Dovška Baba via Hruški vrh past Rožca to Klek and on the way back also to Austrian Košelnjak, weather super considering that in the morning when I was driving it was raining on the Gorenjska motorway, pics are unfortunately mostly bad because most got deleted.. well some left, but just not the interesting ones namely on the path to Klek I met a real worm and green colored, well everything first time once..

Today another "easy and express" vacation one nasmeh….We three "babes" went to lie on "Baba" and look through the Hole into Zadnjica mežikanje…well, Zadnjica isn't really visible nasmeh, otherwise unique views all around…Shepherd hut at Planina Dovška Rožca was open today, got drinks and sour milk…when the "better half" of the owner is up there too, apparently you get something else to eat (supposedly coming again tomorrow)…North wind blew just enough not too hot, otherwise pity my two teenage girls didn't feel like extending to Hruški vrh mrk pogled…(they said it's nice enough at Baba already nasmeh). Today first time at Dovška Baba also in summer (until now only winter), hard to decide when it's nicer nasmeh
