Today I went for a ski tour "descent" to Dovška Baba, or rather I didn't reach the summit, only to the last bend before the hut, because the boots rubbed blisters on my soles. I gritted my teeth, but it's very nice in our mountains, so you try to endure a bit. The babes attacked Baba, the boys were only 2, plus one gentleman. I parked right at the bottom before the power station, since you can ascend nicely on the road, and luckily yesterday it snowed a little, so the road was nicely covered with 5 cm below and up to 20-30 cm above. The ski track is pulled direct up, but I plowed on fresh snow around on the road and it was super too, though longer. I descended on the road, peaceful just hearing the skis slide, where the road flattens I pushed a bit. Right to the bottom one can ski beautifully. For walkers I recommend snowshoes, probably by the weekend trampled, the sun will do its part too. Whoever can, go tomorrow, I think tomorrow still great. Weather - morning cloudy, afternoon cleared. To the top 2.5 hours, skiing 45 min.

Need to get up at 4 for Baba ? Yeah, today already . At 6:00 in Vrata, goal was Stenar. Walked to the sign where the turnoff for Sovatna is, there turned back because I saw fog the whole way and it was too dark. On the way down met a Czech who asked if this is the path to Triglav. Confirmed, saw he has no ice axe at all. Hope he's ok. Well, at 6:30 back at the car, two Austrians starting for Stenar, also without ice axes . Come on, I told the girlfriends, let's drive a bit more and check the situation at Vršič. Up there it was raining, fog even thicker. No mood to hike in the dark. I saw that the fog-free belt reaches about 1600m. Turned around and at 8:00 at the starting point below Dovje at the first sign for Baba. Deliberately from right at the bottom for some substantial height gain. To the top 2 hours 15 min, down 1 hour 15 min, all on the road. I like this road, because you can run on it, walk fast, walk slowly, its slope allows everything. The fog boundary was at the planina, so no views from the summit, SE wind blowing. On the way down on the road even a bit of sun peeked out. Stenar will wait, today was nice too.

This Baba never disappoints. Today after a looooong time back to the hill a bit, and question when I'll go next. Start right from the bottom at 1pm, went to the last junction of the marked path from the road, ran back just after 3pm I think. All along the road, bottom 5 cm, top around 20 cm of snow. Nice, only one pic because then the phone protested.

Today I finally got to Baba. Since it was wrapped in clouds a couple days ago, I let it sleep then and visited today. I drove up very high to the upper junction for Baba. First I cut it on the road and some shortcuts, then again on the road and after the ramp left into the forest, on the summer path. It's trampled and you can go normally. Those with skis continued to the hut on the road. Short break at the hut, where about ten of us gathered, most with touring skis. After about half an hour, due to worsening weather from the Austrian side, one by one we attacked the summit. On top it started snowing lightly, but no problem. Followed descent with board down the gully to the bend, then on the road to the junction above Cic and past Cic to the start. Weather was excellent at first, clouded in between but held till end of tour. No snow crusts, so the "ride" was excellent. Could have been a bit more snow. It will come, winter's not over. LP.

Darja didn't mean badly by my words. All in a positive sense and with great humility we went to the top and back down. It was a beautiful day not to be thrown away. Just right for Baba. Best regards.

LidijaJesih, you caught a wonderful day, I can hardly believe it, when it was all dark and foggy here in Ljubljana, we could only dream of the sun. Pictures of course gorgeous. And safe steps.

Already when you get out from under the cover it's nice, such a day especially. Nuša, we started a bit above Dovje, where the fork is left Kepa, right Baba. Towards Baba of course, then to the building in the first pic and behind it following the marks. Catch such a day yourself too.
