Yesterday, 13.03.2024 via Mlince valley to Lahov preval, past Dovška Rožca to Dovška Baba and back.
Lack of mountain experiences due to gloomy rainy past weeks seriously threatened real abstinence crisis. ARSO finally pitied us wretches with two nice days forecast. Unfortunately meteorologists spiced friendly forecast with 3rd or 4th avalanche danger higher in high mountains. Such forecast not to ignore.
Mlince valley starting at confluence Žakelj and Mlince nicely secluded. Trail wide, after km left Mlinc stream from left and straight up valley. Sometimes in stream or beside. Though water rushing not hard. Direction by red spots on rocks. 300m further fallen cairn with red rocks directed to hunters path. Path steep up first then flattens. Though little trodden quite traceable, no red spots in forest. At only cairn 150m above stream path turns right slowly. Then steep forest slopes that wet could be slippery, above Lahov preval.
From there continued on still dry marked Čez Starko trail. With height snow patches appeared. Nothing special. But exiting forest bit below Dovška Rožca literally stepped into winter. No track, luckily snow not deep and ok. Out of forest in sun snow more southern, underprocessed stuff crusting just over boot. No spontaneous slabs seen, approach ridge little snow, grass visible often. Walking pleasant almost ideal. Just below summit bit frozen. To avoid icy windblown patch last meters on ridge put on crampons precautionally. Not really needed.
Views to Julijci and Karavanke magnificent. Over 2000m all nicely white fresh snow blanket like real winter. Almost no wind, sun slowly behind clouds.
Fine too. Went down. Few dozen meters above Dovška Rožca checked path to Mlinca saddle. Real winter there, occasional breakthrough so returned Čez Starko.
On hunters path above Lahov preval no taste for steep forest traverse so straight down extreme right edge of gully in valley head. Been there once winter. Then up down no issues. This time no snow but steep grass sparse trees ending in overhang above steep crumbly gully. Experience gave later thought. Evening found on blog "Steze in sledi" ascent desc of this gully marked "somewhat tedious". For descent I'd add !. Maybe next left side with bushes for help.
Stream in gully not bothersome. To valley end another 1.5km. Crossing Žakelj at Mlinc confluence not hard. Even if water in boot no harm. Behind nice day!
Little spice: few hundred m above Dovje new total traffic ban sign (except owners). Closure till end March this year. Hope so!

On Saturday 16/3 after returning from Baba I turned towards Mlinca saddle. Already at the junction above Rožca I put on snowshoes, without which I probably wouldn't have continued (it was sinking quite deeply, all the way to Mlinca). When the path enters the forest, it's very mixed (I put on/took off snowshoes 2 or 3 times), from the junction for Kepo they are practically no longer useful.
From here on everything dry. I descended to the confluence, and climbed via Šija to Planica and Borovje and back to Dovje. Met no one, and except some mini drizzle, quite nice weather (especially compared to the last few weekends).

Does anyone know what the condition is on the path Ravne - Dovška rožca? Asking because of storms and such. Are parking and path in normal condition?

For walking it's all fine. Driving by car and even by bike is prohibited.

In Dovje there have been paid parking spaces for a longer time, e.g. at the church. It was only a question of time when this sign in Franci's picture would appear

There are way too many of these signs and barriers , everything is at the level of unconnected municipalities and therefore very confusing. Tadej, is there any possibility to integrate some interactive map or at least a list into the portal where we would enter these annoyances when they appear?
It would be easier to plan ascents if you already know at home where you can't park.

Drago, I agree and don't go to Vrata anymore, for example. The problem is when you head somewhere else but get surprised by a new ban you didn't know about. Therefore, some kind of publicly published list is proposed where there are parking problems.

I can just post parking lots with no issues.
Here's one from Friday's hike. Organized parking lot for 6 euros daily, with WC. Next to it, good tour start plus maintained running track.
