Dovška Baba

GITA23. 12. 2012 00:49:05
@katty, don't know which starting point you mean, on Thursday (20.12.) I parked a bit above Dovje village (by the power plant), last part of the road icy, but slowly it's fine, further the road icy too and not gritted (don't know how far...), but didn't bother me, as I wasn't planning to drive higher...when I was back, a guy in a 4x4 passed by and visibly sighed when back in the valley, we chatted a bit, he said he was properly scared on the downhill drive...

The path is a mix of everything...icy, bare, then icy again, ice under leaves, on Goreljše pasture almost spring, above the pasture a continuous snow track starts...But as said, that was three days ago...good luck! nasmeh

Said and done. Dovška Baba was our goal today, a proper winter tournasmeh. And worth the load of Mojca's crampons.

The path takes us through Dovje village, where at the junction for Dovška Baba and Kepa we park. The path from here on is actually pretty icy, those driving around here without chains are "gambling"eek with their lives...We could have too, if the crampons had stayed homevelik nasmeh. At that nice little house that Lidija photographed, we head up the hill. Soon real nice views of the Julians await us, but more on that later. Along the path, mostly in winter garb, we spot quite a few weekend homes we wouldn't mind havingmežikanje...at least for their location. The path is icy in places-ice hidden under leaves, so more caution on steeper bits. Gentle sun warms nicely, so soon shedding layers. On the clearing with a nice bench next to a ruin, we rest...our eyes often wander to Triglav and neighbors. Enjoying...and basking in the increasingly pleasant sunnasmeh. Steepness in spots is quite big, but we manage easily. On the ridgelet below the pasture pure poetrymežikanje...views that take your breath away. Beautiful, wonderful, indescribable nasmeh... Another "photo session"jezik. How silly we looked to ourselves, childishly excited...how could we not, we had everything one could wish fornasmeh...great company, nice weather and views that draw a smile ear to earmežikanje. No one at the hut. Everyone headed to the summit. Another hour of bliss...munching...gazing at Julians and Kepanasmeh. We go to the top from which everyone is already returning...some on foot, some on skis. Nice to watch them. We're all thrilled by this winter idyll we didn't expect. Alone at the top. I'm still looking towards Stol, as a small group of friends was heading there just then. Godly views, no wind, could even jump around without hat and jacketeek. Photos take some time again...and rightly so. Neither of us can quite believe we're here...that the mountain let us come to itnasmeh. Crampons we had on eased the descent to the hut a bit. A little snack, then slowly down the path. Here we caught some wonderful moments and even sunsetnasmeh...icing on the cake. After 3h walking on snow and ice we're at the start.

Behind me a wonderful, beautiful, unforgettable winter day spent in great companynasmeh. Hope for more such feats by year's end.

@ Kokta
Hi! Can you briefly describe the conditions on the path and where the start was?

Nice day,
Tamara

Hi Tamara. Start from Dovje. Above 1100m there is frozen snow which poses no problems. Up and down without crampons.

I haven't been to Dovška Baba yet, I'm interested if there is avalanche danger anywhere and how much time it takes from Dovje to hike lp

Today, thaw, at 1300 meters 4°C, higher up also something like that, just with wind in some places and on the top.
And the stamp is uprooted and just lying next to the box....

Today Baba in all its glory. On hard base 5-15 cm powder. To the alpine pasture also for pedestrians no problem, higher to the top it sinks a bit. From the top I skied into the ditch, then along the road and meadows to the end. Since no parking spaces, recommend using a shovel, or parking already above Dovje. Lp

Yesterday, the 22nd, I headed to the top. Start from lower Mlince near the power plant. With snowshoes first a bit on the road, across ditches and through the forest, past Cica and the hut on the pasture to the top. While it was gray in the valley, Nature spoiled me on top with blue sky and sun. Fresh snow is 30-40 cm. On top a few cm more. Bottom has hard base. From the top descent with dilo on celcu straight down the gully. Excellent "pela". velik nasmeh On steeper areas possibility of triggering avalanches. Today was not a wasted day and it was one for the soul. velik nasmeh
Start.1
Flat area. At the left cottage across the ditch towards the summit.2
Past Cica.3
Winter fairy tale and plenty of snow.4
Hut on the mountain pasture.5
Beauties of Winter. :)6
A little below the summit. Whiteness and blueness.7
Blown-off summit. Around are snowdrifts. :)8
Equipped for the descent. And we're already off. :)9
Straight from the top down the gully. Great overall for soul and body.10
