It's not even worth posting any pics, namely with an ice axe it's so much harder to do the trapez, first the dimensions are a bit off, second I didn't go all the way to the ground, third it looks weird in the pics, fourth when you go around and around the crack closes up and it looks like you're only doing the first 10cm, fifth it's harder to remove snow in front of you, sixth from these pics they'll now make fun of it here or elsewhere, at AO sections and I even think they'll show the pics at some AO section, seventh it's done to the ground, eighth too many smart people on various portals, on the terrain no one checks, trainees wear crampons-poles, no helmet, main thing is to have two of the thinnest best ice axes, good jacket for 300 euros and boots for 250 euros, backpack whatever as long as you stuff the gear in it.. Main thing is then everyone is so smart that according to rules no one goes to do it on terrain because it's time-consuming and then avalanches happen because of loading others. Anyway Juš I met you now on Y to Begunjščica and two mates and your words that I should sober up/smarten up and then I'd still like to wish you a happy new year no hard feelings, for these cuts it's just to boost my ego.

Hehe, you do profiles to boost your ego and not to check if the snowpack might be dangerous? Bravo. Look, Juš gave you a very good tip - attend some training. On 25.1. there are Avalanche Awareness Days at Poljuka - there you can learn to assess snowpack stability etc. Given how much you're in the mountains in winter, the price is negligible...

Really funny 100+ hikers and I'll do the profile, come on zebdi you've been provoking non-stop for years, here and on FB when Čokl posted that avalanche symphony link you all jumped on him.

I told you on the terrain, honestly no joking. Problem is you're a gray mouse on terrain, here king of the mountains! And until you change that you'll always be LG and not Matej. Basic etiquette is to greet when you meet, not go "past like a fiaker horse!" These profiles are just to show others that "you kinda master it".

Are you kidding? The snow profile has flaws! Which I pointed out in previous posts too. It's clear enough if you get the trapez out that it's not safe, which my brother also warned me about, as the instructors taught him in AO Matica; only there they did it to the ground.

@lg, come on, don't bullshit. If it's funny to do a profile with 100+ hikers, why the hell did you then go scratch the snow with an ice axe and post the pic on the forum as a snowpack profile? If you already mentioned Čokl - I only wrote to him that he couldn't expect anything else but that the post would stir up a huge fuss. There were also some strong words written on gore-ljudje, yeah. But I have no idea where you see provocation here

I was first there, only after 2 hours did I start counting them and none of them did profiles, nor did anyone know there are séracs on Y to Vrtača that can collapse, nor did anyone know conditions in the gully aren't the best, soft slush. I don't even understand those who went down the S slope and not along the ridge to SE and those are experienced.

Well anyway, I didn't expect you to head towards "očaku" with insufficient knowledge. Better wait a bit longer, the mountain will still be there. For starters sign up for the course in the post, where you'll gain basic experience and learn what all you need to take with you in such conditions, and best of all, you'll meet people who can help you and maybe even take you on such a tour to gain experience, especially to survive! If I get leave I'll be there too.

I didn't plan to go on this winter hike alone. We're three. Until we're 100% ready we won't go challenging fate. The course wouldn't hurt us. I wouldn't mind an organized hike either. Best regards

That the question from @roman1234 wasn't provocation, can make us think! Although it was really a bit unbelievable that someone would ask what clothes to take in winter for ascent to Triglav. My opinion is that it's smart to answer every such question seriously or avoid answering if we think someone is provoking us. Otherwise, sometimes a tip to the provoker isn't too much - maybe he needs it and doesn't even know it himself!

This doesn't compute, because avalanche danger was only 2, after 2 everyone goes up ...

Hello everyone! So as not to disturb and open new topics, I'll ask here if someone can lend or rent the following equipment: Ice axe (standard hiking) Crampons (classic) Avalanche triplet (or at least some of it - shovel, probe, pole) I'd need the stuff for winter mountaineering solo from 3.3 (Thu) to incl. 6.3.2016 (Sun). Only benefactors from/around Ljubljana, Vrhnika, Logatec come to the post (for pickup). All other info on price and rental options, interested please send via private messages. I need the stuff just for myself, so 1 piece each. If you have more pieces available, let me know anyway, if someone else is without some aids and I can ease their work a bit. Big thanks and have a nice day to all participants.

Mountaineers ! I'm interested if there's anyone here who likes to tweak some gear a bit themselves. Not sure whether to buy crampons without anti-balling protection, which I can get (10/12 teeth), for 30-40€). I'm thinking of making custom "antiboot" inserts from stainless steel sheet myself, drill the crampons a bit and attach the mentioned stainless anti-balling protection to the crampons with rivets. Also interested firsthand, since I can't find enough data online, how much difference there is between classic crampons with plastic ends and then strap, and crampons that have only strap (older ones). Are the latter much less comfortable (my lay opinion)? Need for soft summer boot. Thanks and best regards
