As far as I know, from Ptičji vrh you can go to Pusti Rovt and back by road, or further down to Križovec and back by road again. Everywhere it's on the road, gravel.

Or from Pusti Rovt down to Markljev Rovt and on towards Planina pod Golico

By train from Jesenice to Austria to Podrožce, from there to Golica, then as far as you like left or right and back down to Jesenice

Thanks everyone for the replies. This Austrian option sounds very interesting, just wondering about the train from Slovenia...

This small border train only runs on weekdays, not on weekends and holidays in Austria

Aha, good to know. I just peeked for tomorrow, didn't check the whole timetable. In winter you can take it to Podrožce, with touring skis, when there's lots of snow of course, go to Koprivnjak and then on to Dovška Baba. Ski down to Dovje and regular bus back to Jesenice.

I checked the link and changed the date to 15.10., Saturday - the train goes to Podrožce. Maybe I'll take this option after all, I just need to figure out if I can walk back to the car in Jesenice afterwards...

The SŽ search for abroad isn't exactly the best

Well, if anyone else wants to go by train to Rosenbach and from there to Golica - at Ljubljana station on Friday they sold me a Jesenice-Rosenbach ticket for today, Saturday, train MV314. At Jesenice station three people (two Slovenians and one Austrian conductor) told me that MV314 never stops at Rosenbach station... So yeah... disaster on disaster.

Yes, in Podrožce only that train stops which goes at half past 6 from Jesenice (weekdays) the others don't. Did you then go further by train to Baško jezero where it stops or turn back at Jesenice? Lp

There is no train to Podrožce, you can go by train to Faak am See (Bača ob jezeru) then take the local back to Podrožce/Rosenbach. All in all it takes 1 hour (approx. 15 minutes waiting in Bača).

Nope, I didn't go to Baško jezero because I didn't know about that option, and the station couldn't advise me either.

Hello, I'm interested in the current situation on Golica. Are there still/already daffodils? Thanks for any answer. Lp Sabina

Jusk. I also crossed there today. I noticed that quite a few leaves are browned, and the flowers themselves like beaten by some strong shower or hail.

Yes, I noticed that too. On Tuesday afternoon there was a heavy shower with hail in Jesenice, probably hail fell on Golica then too and damaged them.

We went with a colleague today to Golica. Weather was OK, lots of people, even more narcissuses From Jesenice a bus drove (5 euros) to Planina pod Golico, then we went on the path to the top over the ridge. On the way back past the hut.
