It's unlikely there will be more,... Usually there are most from the hut right under Mala Golica, real white carpets..

Parkeljc, I think those aren't pics from 7.5.11, 'cos today I didn't see so many narcissi anywhere.

Just back from Golica. Today hikers and ladies from PD Slovenj Gradec and PD Mislinja (enough for four vans) went on an excursion or hike to Golica (1835 m). Start at 8am in front of Pristava home in Javorniški Rovt (975 m). Path through white carpets of narcissi, but closer to the top fewer, plenty other flowers along the path (gentian, auricula or beautiful globeflower, potentilla...). After a good three hours reached the summit, views magnificent today, visibility exceptional, left side Triglav on the palm of the hand, right side wonderful view of Drava river valley and mighty Vrbsko lake. Great view of Austrian 3000ers today, Sonnblick (3106 m) and Grossglockner (3797 m) so close could touch them In shady spots along the ridge or saddle still huge snow drifts, otherwise warm, hot in the sun, but on top cold wind due to snow. Crowd on top indescribable, like no Golica tomorrow . After snack, stamping and group photo descended to hut, stayed until 13:00, then to Planina pod Golico (950 m) where vans waited. When we arrived at Planina pod Golico it quickly clouded over, during descent met many young families ascending to Golica, some don't take mountains seriously or start late despite poor afternoon forecast (showers possible). Those latecomers later got properly soaked on the way to Golica Otherwise really beautiful Sunday, whoever wasn't on Golica or elsewhere in mountains surely regrets it, some repeat hikers said you need luck for such weather and long no such nice view as today (yes some know when to go to mountains ) Photos tomorrow or sometime next week. Nice narcissi greeting

Yesterday with 9-year-old son and husband first time on Golica. Ascent in direction Križovec along ridge to Golica top, descent to hut for refreshment and below ridge on marked path to car. Most narcissi from Sedlo Suha, elsewhere singles. Short steep on path from saddle to ridge quite steep, but worth ascent, path offers nice views. Son entertained by border stones - one foot in Slovenia, other in Austria. Had great time, even 2 hr drive home no tired. Some pics. LP, Giti.

Hribovc88 - 8.5.2011 We also "trudged" up Golica today. People were like in a procession....photos to follow. To your comment I wanted to add when some set off to the mountains with small kids. Since we weren't in a hurry, the first raindrops at half past three in the afternoon prompted us to head to the valley. No rush and we weren't wet, because it was really just drizzling occasionally. But if you met a young family heading up at two, I'm curious what you'd say if you met them at half past four when it was already drizzling more seriously? And they were only at the start of the path. The kids were about five and six years old. If mine hadn't held me back, I'd have opened my mouth and told the parents straight. If I had the power I'd have driven them back. But sadly I don't have that power. Yeah, that's how some tempt fate and obviously only personal misfortune will teach them.

Good that you turned back, the only right thing, some would want to get up at any cost, even if cats and dogs fell from the sky. Not to mention how inadequately some were shod, I noticed a couple in those flip-flops or beach sandals , as if going to Smarna Gora or some other hillock, and even for such little hills proper footwear is needed, I really don't know what they don't get Traffic: personally I'd ban motor vehicles from the settlement Planina pod Golico onwards, today there were droves of cars like on the highway. Otherwise all sorts of nice cars, of course mostly with LJ plates, those "hoštapler ho ho" posh Ljubljana blouses just have to haul their butt right to their cottage, bohnedi, instead of stretching a bit or walking

Golica! Managed to fulfill the wish to see Golica in white. Crowds, crush, endless columns, ...occupation of Golica Around 9 o'clock we were at the hut, then it started ... ps And I see many forum members were on Golica, we could have had a meetup. Best regards and safe steps.

If you were at the top of Golica a bit after eight in the morning you wouldn't have had to trudge at all!!!

Well, I also visited Golica today with the group. I think there wasn't such a huge crush after all, except around the hut and at the very top. If you choose a less crowded path, it's quite pleasant. We started early enough on the path past Savske jame, via Markljev rovt to sedlo Suha, along the ridge (mimi gada) to the top. There were really quite a few of us, but I've experienced worse sieges years ago. On the continuation of the path there was almost no one to meet, just some individuals. We descended to Jekljevo sedlo, under Klek continued to Rožca, down to Jeseniška planina and through nice forest full of future blueberries, past narcissus patches back to the direndaj-full Planina pod Golico.

On Saturday we also headed to Golica, past Savske jame and Markljev rovt to sedlo Suha, then along the ridge to Golica. From the saddle onwards there was really quite a crowd, even worse at the top and at the hut. Still, the trip was nice - most narcissus under Mala Golica and on the meadows above Planina pod Golico. 8.5 on Sunday, we also set off towards Golica. Morning weather was wonderful. In the afternoon it caught us, or rather my friends, I got to the valley early. Narcissus still blooming.

Today I went to Golica and I tell you there was something to see, the weather was really nice, cloudless, with a wonderful view of the Julian Alps still covered in snow. Especially nice because there were no crowds. In short, a well-spent day.

This weekend we planned to go with the family to Golica to see how it is when meadows are covered with daffodils. But since they forecast rain I'm curious how long daffodils bloom there, because in 14 days it'll be too late. Do you still think they'll be blooming? Whoever lives nearby surely knows approximately how long daffodils bloom there? lp

@petruša I'm not exactly from under Golica, but I was on Golica yesterday and I can say in 14 days there really won't be much blooming fairy tale left. Daffodils will still bloom, just not in such numbers as these days when it's white like snow lying. This spring on Golica is also earlier than in the valley. Best regards and more luck next year.

Thanks for the info, we'll see what the weather is like this Saturday, it shows only clouds, afternoon rain, then we'll see, because the kids really want it when they see those beautiful views of blooming meadows. lp
