After many years we decided to wander a bit again on the marked paths of Golte and the weather was very much in our favor. Almost everything was like years ago, only the Boskovec summit disappointed me a little, as they demolished the viewpoint tower, behind it lots of debris was left, the summit overgrown and from it no view at all thanks to the spruces that gained height in the past years. Hills and vales nicely green, forest glades especially, adorned with colorful fly agarics, few people, so we could enjoy solitary paths. lp

Here, a little above Mozirsko koča, we started

along the entire path, dry woolly-headed osati accompanied us

past the hotel leads a not very neat ragged gravel road

from here there are nice views on Kamniške planine

Yesterday for the path on Golte I took Dol suha - Suha graben - Golička loka and back on the marked path to Dol suhi. This graben has tempted me for some time to explore it, as I regularly see it from Nazarije. The graben is picturesque and demanding. From the very start to the end one must be attentive, as danger lurks from below and from above. Below holes covered with leaves, broken trees and other natural obstacles, above chamois dislodging stones and fallen half-rotten trunks leaning over the gorge. Some passages are only about a meter wide and give extra charm to the hidden world of Golte. After two hours of walking, climbing and crawling, I managed to reach Golička loka. The last hundred meters of elevation were tormenting. Wild. Wonderful world for explorations.

Today's trip took place a bit more to the left of yours, Zoki... cool

We drove up a bit above 1000 m asl. Milan finds the hunting path, which we follow nicely.
Soon I spot the consequences of the storm damage and from afar the cave entrance is visible. Before this blowdown the entrance was well hidden in the spruce forest. The traverse to the entrance is now quite difficult. Loose forest soil, slippery, crumbly unstable stones, be careful!!!
We look into the cave and continue - calvary!
When we climb out of this blowdown, fallen spruces await us. We breathe a sigh of relief when we are in the forest searching for the hunting path to Konjski vrh. We continue towards Stari stani. Between skiing skiers we cross the ski piste. Today is the last day of skiing on Golte.
On forest tracks and paths we advance towards Istje, Boskovec, Javorca. Crust breaks in, we walk on top, icy, bare.
Past Janez's bivouac for beer to Mozirska koča. We continue to Ston and at the monument "nail it". We descend past the LD Rečica hunting hut.
The westerly howls, twists, bends spruce crowns. Over Rogatec black clouds.
After 6 hours cca. 13.5 km at the starting point.
Nice, unplanned excursion.

Yesterday to Golte from Žekovec.
We start left along Trnavi, up along the tracks to the head of the gully below Kortami where we climb steeply pathless to Kort. Barely reach the saddle and already across meadows to marked towards Beli peč. We climb to the window and sit there a bit in the sun. Jump to Javorca and again martinčkanje. We go to Boskovec too, from there across Isteje back past the hut on the normal route to Žekovec. Southern slope offered good conditions yesterday. Snow starts only towards Boskovec. Wonderful trip.

Last year on the map I compared names of farms and pastures on NE part of the plateau, today went to hike the planned idea live. Nowhere to summit, 3 hour loop from chapel at Plešnik. Golte nicely frozen despite sun. Lp, Andrej

I descend a bit too far to the right and come across familiar pictures live...

I look to the rocky viewpoint and on the way back a spot for Mastercard ad...

Finally I hit the right path and enjoyably return lower through the clearings (in the background Sv. Križ, 1048m)

Nope, only did 30m descent to rock tower below pasture and then seeking return path passed similar nice spot with dead-end. Cairns already made me nervous as I don't like unknown tricky descents, JTrogar forum paths all non-beginner level. If first impression right, for second dead-end need one level higher? Lp

Well, I thought I knew Golte a bit. I was wrong big time.
Arranged with Zlatko [for a] small loop on [the] plateau as [a] front [is] coming[, need to] use [this] weather. Don't know exact plan he had.
Car [left] at lift by road. Not warmed up yet when from right on hunting variant another hiker joins. Turns out [to be] Janez and they know each other. Yes[, ]that Janez who routed countless paths here.
Then it started.

Up[, ]down[, ]climbing rock pillars[, ]peeking [into] every hole [and] gully[, ]sweet ferrata[, free] climbing again. Fun [and] adrenaline with two pro cats guiding.
All dry[, ]only [a] bit below Mozirska hut snow starts.
Few pics[, ]sadly no time.
Will repeat if [I] find all wonderful paths.

I felt like somewhere in the Dolomites here

Morning [it was] frozen with snow patches in forest. Warmed bodies cooled by strong SW. Snow[, ]say above 1500m asl.
In lee and sunny spots[, ]quite pleasant.
Jany discovered bit of Golte and blew [on] frozen fingers several times (lots [of] climbing today).
Good [use of the] morning before forecast worsening. cool

Today on Golte via the classic route from Žekovec to Planica. From there along the hunting path and cairns to Koprivna peč. On the ridge I spotted Janez on the other side and soon we were together (at a safe distance). A bit up, a bit down to the bivouac, over Prepasana peč, where we wished each other luck and went our separate ways. Another nice day on Golte. Good luck!

Today another nice day on Golte. I headed towards the cave under Konjski vrh, which due to windthrow became nicely visible from the valley and invited me with its remoteness for a long time. Difficult terrain around the cave gives a prehistoric feel and at times seems like the whole slope is crumbling under feet. Half a meter away from me an eagle rose from a pile of branches and rushed towards spruces. A little below Konjski vrh a really big owl surprised me. Don't know when I last saw such. Scent of resin and forest I inhaled along and made a nice loop which I hope to repeat regularly. Lp

Today I caught the right hour for nice views on Medvedjak. Clouds wrapped the mountain pasture in magic. Stayed quite long on top and enjoyed solitude. Lp

Today nice circular path Smrekovec - Golte (Stari stani - Trije ploti - Mozirska koča - Javorca - Boskovec - Konečka planina) and back to Smrekovec. Very nice path cca 25 km.

What's happening with Mozirska koča?
Visitors to Mozirska planina/Golte have been wondering for a while what’s up with the hut?
Hut closed at least three months. Visitors knock in vain on locked doors!
This morning in rain I sought shelter here, see some cars in front of hut. Happy to get tea (finally open), walk to entrance. Front door wide open and when I open door to restaurant part, just hear sharp unfriendly voice: "CLOSED"!
Hope that's not the "new keeper". jezen
