In layman's terms: on Grintavec some old snow + new. Not much old, but new noticeably more. On summit roof expect maybe up to 40cm, unverified!

Exactly, Mr. Jože from Kamniško sedlo gave me this info a few minutes ago and advised against Grintovec due to old+new snow combo!!!
I hope this winter I still manage to climb safely up with someone and of course down!!!

I walked a bit in our hills in Styria, in the morning on Boč and Donačka gora, it was nice, quite a few hikers!!

Hehe...first independent ascent on a two-thousander without parents' company my friend and I did about four or five months ago right on Grintovec. Specifically from Suhadolnik to Cojzova koča, then Grintovec, back to Cojzova koča for jota and then down to Kamniška Bistrica. Nice tour, wind blew hard, snow was of course only in some small hollows, only later clouds gathered on the summit.

Yes, I've been up there twice, specifically on the mountain run to Grintovec both times, usually the last weekend in July.
I'm mainly interested in the winter ascent, which is something totally different from the ascent when there's no snow!!!

Hi Zamet, nice pics, so that means I screwed up a bit not going up!!!
I'm working all day today, no chance, tomorrow it'll probably really be a problem since precipitation is forecast.

We were on Grintovec on New Year's Eve from the Kamnik side. By car you get to the cargo cable car station. Almost no snow in the forest, but then the snow cover thickens quickly. Snow is hard packed powder, partly icy in places. We chose ascent from Jama directly to Grintovec. I skied back that route myself, friends chose skiing the classic variant over the roof. I was up on Saturday. Approach through Jame valley then on the normal marked path. It was super, and hot too. Since I was first, I nicely broke trail uphill. And one more story. Last weekend my sunglasses slid off on the snowfield, I had them on the strap and forgot when I took my hat off.  On Friday I bought new ones, on Saturday halfway up the gully they slid off again.  But luckily someone behind me picked them up when I yelled down to the valley if they saw them. He also helped me break trail when he caught up. Thanks again!

Yes, we are from the Ptuj area, from our places we would start around 3am, to Kamniška we have an hour or a bit more!!!
If it snows, it's a question of how it will be, right???

Yes, I checked the web, up there should be -17 degrees and wind that blows you away!!!
The temperature doesn't bother me, the other can be a problem because extreme conditions don't pull me up, I'll pick some hill at our end!!
