Some started at midnight, I during the daytime . A bit above the lower cable car station the marked path ends soon - further it's all under snow. Where the path ends there's a snow gully a few meters to the right. You ascend straight up it all the way to the wider snowfield, where it's scree in dry conditions. Here again more or less straight up to the saddle. Similar is the ascent over the roof to the top of Grintovec. Snow is already quite south-facing in the morning (after 10am), after 12pm it sinks properly. Today there were about 20 of us at the top, half of them skiers. As it looked conditions for skiing are excellent. Same for hikers. From equipment it's good to have: ice axe, gaiters, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Nice greetings! Yesterday I intended to go to Grintavec, but when I arrived at Kokrško sedlo, it was completely black on the Jezersko side, and it started snowing. So I decided and went back to the valley! Otherwise, the snow is nice for walking, it's south-facing, and doesn't sink. So you can advance quickly. For going back down, you can just slide

Nice greetings Since we plan to go to Grintavec this week and we've never been there, I'm interested in the conditions (is the path visible or not) and from which direction is easiest to go up. Currently we plan the path from Kamniška Bistrica. Best

The easiest approach is from Kamniška Bistrica, so go for it! It's a bit awkward if you go for the first time and don't know where the path is now under the avalanche. There are two main avalanches, the first you see already from the cable car. You can walk on it for a while, later you have to move to the right, where you go the whole way directly towards the saddle.

First, thanks for the quick reply. That about the avalanche you mean your 4th picture or what? (not quite clear to me) Is the path visible, or can you stray from it quickly?

and12: If you're heading to Grintovec the easiest path is from Kamniška Bistrica. In winter the ascent to Grintovec is much more demanding than in summer. Take along: gaiters, sunglasses (mandatory), and also crampons.

And12: pics of avalanche unfortunately I don't have. You'll see when you start walking. You walk on marked path for a while, then sooner or later you start walking on snow which is result of avalanche. At beginning on the left, when you're a bit higher, you find the easiest passage, and go between trees to the right side, to the second avalanche. From there just directly up to the saddle. You'll see. From optional equipment, take besides the above listed also ice axe. I'll probably go up on Saturday. If you go later, I can still post pics of the avalanche and some others. Best and safe walking!

Does maybe someone know if the path from Suhadolnik to Grintovec is passable and if it is more demanding than from the Kamniška side. Thanks for the answers and best regards.

Is anyone going tomorrow to Grintovec from Kamniška Bistrica?

The path through Taško is nicer, easier and in winter less exposed to avalanches than from the End at the cargo cableway. If you mean the path further to Grintovec, then the branch of the old hunting path through Dolce is more demanding than the usual path along Streha from Kokrško sedlo.

I also had it planned, but unfortunately due to the newly fallen snow I won't go to Grintavec, so I'll head with my son to Velika Planina. Circular path from Kranjski Rak to Zeleni Rob and back.

I was on Stol today, and there were no problems with new snow. But I don't know how it is here.

Marco-Slo! Hats off, you burned it good! Two and a half hours is really an incredible time! I last time went only to saddle, and needed a whole hour. Went all the way to "dile" too! So I see, you're really very well prepared athlete. Really congrats. I also want to go to Grintovec soon, hope no too big avalanche danger when this stops falling Best, Jure- Cveto

I really don't know what's the point of short sleeves at minus!?

I'm not an athlete. But this year I started hiking full-on in the mountains, this was already the 24th tour this year. I almost always hike in short sleeves. And that picture when it's minus, I was already dressed. When I reach the top I get dressed in a couple of minutes. Why get used here to being fully dressed, what would I do there when it's like -30? But I'm interested in some group tour with someone. Regards.

majkimajk 29.4.2009 I really don't know what's the point of short sleeves at minus!?confused Of course he was hot at those couple of degrees, if you go up that fast, you're hot like a dog. And it's totally normal to be in short sleeves, when you reach the top, then you get dressed. We all do it like that! Well, not always short sleeves, a thin pullover also ok Marco-Slo! Maybe we arrange sometime for a joint tour. Best regards
