Aha, I forgot they should also be suitable for via ferratas, so I won't have to buy another pair later. And you've gone in that direction anyway. Planika and Alpina probably out then. These Hanwag I've avoided a bit because of the name I associate (unfairly?) with Chinese stuff Does La Sportiva have a wider last than Salewa? I have to go on another trying expedition. Salewa seemed love at first sight, so I didn't want to try others

hm, looking at prices, there are a couple of models in your price range (150-200€)...otherwise as always I say, best is to try everything available and buy what fits your foot best, even if it's a euro more...

Meindl, models 5.1 and 7, check on the Pohodnik website; both under 170 EUR.

Why not go to Proalp at Slapar? There they measure your foot and make them exactly to your foot and leg outline, and they are good and high-quality too. I'm going there in 2 months for both, low and high cut. If they make, as promised, a real winter one with semi-auto crampon option, then even better. In short, what does it cost you? Go there, try them on and you'll see, and they also have colors for women to your taste.

Mateja - La Sportiva has a narrow last like Salewa too, so it's out. I'm the proud owner of Meindl Air Revolution 5.1 Lady myself - this boot is wide enough, but unsuitable for summer because it's quite stiff and hot. From Meindl try some Air Revolution model with lower number or they mark boot purpose with letters - A/B suitable. Kayland from Kibuba isn't such a bad boot either, just the question if they have size 36 too???

Hanwag isn't much worse than Sportiva Try as many boots as possible and take the one that fits your foot best. Try them on incline too (all normal stores give this option), to see if and how much it lifts your heel. Try them in the afternoon, have them on your feet for at least 10 min

Thanks for advice! Good forums exist About Proalp I'll inquire, interesting idea. Would ask for more opinions from Proalp boots owners.

Hi..I have proalp high boots..for mountains and easier paths boots super- comfortable, light..for rocks advise against these boots. Sole too soft and twists on harder ground. And one shortcoming at least these high boots - putting on and off bit harder. I then bought La Sportiva Trango Guide Evo GTX in igluju..boot excellent..light, super for rocks and for semi-auto crampons too:-)..hope helped:-)

Aha... this too. I myself have a wider foot... and this La Sportiva model is OK.

They told me that wax reacts with rubber or glue, which peels off the protection (rubber) around the boot, so it would be better to use spray.

No panic, just apply less around the rubber. I have also heard of this problem, but in my 25-year career of applying them, none has peeled off. Possible difference between animal grease with natural ingredients or petroleum product as solvent. I use grease from the Deichmann store with beeswax. I apply them in winter after each trip, in summer every 2 or 3, and they have never been soaked despite water or rotten snow.

Hello, I have one question although I don't go hiking but anyway. I have problems with ankles and wonder what shoes are best to hold ankles properly? Namely, I'm almost fed up jumping from store to store where everyone knows everything but end up with problems only. I've looked a bit already but don't know much; I like best those more retro models like say Zamberlain lagorat or something similar
