Hiking boots

That's all nice and right but I read somewhere that some shoes have built-in support for ankle or something in that style; when I say this in store no one has idea what it's about and that's what interests me most, if it's really so or again something?

I too have problems with one ankle - youth fracture mežikanje
My long-term experience is that the best hiking boots for summer hikes are soft boots with high part at ankles. This gives good enough support, just need to tighten laces enough.
Don't know about normal hiking boots with "built-in support", but anyway don't believe suitable for longer hikes.
I have among others pair of Zamberlans precisely for good ankle hold and very satisfied with them. For "lagorat" model don't know.

Yeah seemed a bit far-fetched to me that there'd be some support inside maybe yes in those for K2 and similar, anyway I'll look for ones above ankle and stiff enough there. Lots of people say too that circa 400€ for shoes is much, if someone finds surgeon who'll replace ankles for 400€ I'll never buy them velik nasmeh

Certain boots (winter technical boots) are more reinforced also in the ankle area, but "non-purpose" use is very "unpleasant" (e.g. in summer the foot doesn't breathe, as they are made for much lower temperatures, etc.). That's the first thing I thought of when you mentioned "built-in support". :-) If that's what you meant, try all gojzars that allow automatic crampons.

My advice regarding the ankle is to visit a physiotherapist or strengthen leg muscles under the guidance of a specialized gym trainer - depending of course on the type of injury.

Hello!

Girlfriend is seriously looking in Slovenia for winter hiking boots, model Free Lander Imactex - Imac.
Sadly, they are no longer available in Slovenia, as they have stopped supplying them.
Does anyone have any idea where else to check or order?
Thanks

Thanks to all for the tips. I went around a bit to check, and all these hiking boots are basically super but too heavy - at least those I saw are all over 2kg each, so in the end I bought Haix Airpower X21 High, which I could try on, and after a few days they are excellent, light, the shoe breathes, feet stay dry inside, so I'm very satisfied. I think I'll buy those low ones above the ankle too, and sorted. velik nasmeh

I'll borrow the thread a bit so I don't open a new one velik nasmeh

Namely, I'm interested in buying Salomon Synapse M Mid CS WP trekking boots. Everything is fine and good (regarding the description). Basically only one thing interests me. Is the waterproof technology (Climashield) they offer here equivalent (or better) to the Goretex membrane? I'm mostly interested in personal experiences.

All other shoe features are perfect for me, I'm just a bit skeptical about Climashield, since I'm a layman when it comes to "hiking" footwear.

P.S. The boots will be used for casual hiking in all weather conditions

Climashield and Goretex are both brands and I think in terms of quality they are equivalent, except that Climashield is significantly warmer (retains heat better than Goretex).

If you plan to use them for walking on easy terrain I think there won't be problems. But if you plan to use them for high mountain walking then the wear is much faster and the membrane gets damaged even sooner (depending on the terrain).

But there is also the "luck" factor in choosing shoes nasmeh

I'm also buying new hiking boots and would be happy for your advice. Since I got burned with Salewa, this time I won't skimp on buying new ones :-). For now I have these in mind http://www.iglusport.si/?mod=store&action=viewProduct&action_id=18815&language=sl, mainly because they are four-season. For mountains namely (yet) I don't have so much time that it would pay to invest in two pairs of really quality boots. The boot is tried on and obviously fits me, but I'm really worried it will be too hot for summer. Thanks for your opinions.

deklca, this boot I've used the longest among other La Sportiva shoes or still do. By far the most versatile shoe in all seasons. Only in winter in snowy high mountains it can freeze your feet.
As for heat, at least I never felt it in summer.

I have Trango Alp Gtx ("men's version") and they are really great, not too hot. They are not exactly four-season, in winter it can get a bit cold if you go above 3000-4000m, the rest can be managed with 2 socks nasmeh

Hi!
I need a recommendation for a good low trekking boot. I'm leaning towards Salomon, Adidas and Salewa... any advice?

Hi,

depends on price and use (terrain).

In the "lower price" range: Of these 3 brands you listed, I only know this model http://www.intersport.si/shop/moski-44091/obutev-51548/pohodni-cevlji-51578/moski-pohodni-cevlji-salomon-eskape-ltr-55002bd9c38b37345f8b4678#productDescription
It has contagrip, which performs a bit worse on wet terrain...

But you can get shoes from other brands that are cheaper and technically better e.g. http://www.iglusport.si/nizki-cevlji/xplorer/3 nasmeh

If price is no issue nasmeh http://www.kibuba.com/?cID=1590&pID=7131
