Dkranjc27! Thanks for the reply. The boot is really like made for me but it puts me a bit in doubt. I saw them in Intersport and the seller recommended them with all enthusiasm. As for Alpina I already had Tibet lady a while ago but I could never get used to them, so they got a second owner. Checked Iglu and Kibuba. What model do you recommend (affordable)?

@metado, Every boot has good and bad qualities in my opinion, right, but the fact is that one person from my better half warmly recommended that I not get hiking boots from Hervis or Intersport, Tomas-Sport, Rosi Sport and so on, because we know I'll pay but the equipment quality won't be that good. Naive me still didn't listen to that person who meant well for me and here we have the result. I'm not saying you'll have the same problems but still, please.. be careful. Another friend bought exactly those Salomon boots last week at Intersport that I have problems with. They were 20 euros cheaper than at Hervis and on Saturday he tested these boots. Grip solid but laces, disaster, in the end he had to make a double knot for it to hold at all! Anyway once again, go to Iglu or Kibuba and not just look but physically try and if you really don't find a really comfortable boot for yourself, then go to Hervis or wherever! Good luck

@smatjaz yes it fits my foot really well too so I'd stick with the proven...but the Anapurna and Jalovec models are really quite stiff... I arranged to try Kanin too (but unfortunately no Vibram sole) and then decide. @dkrajnc27 I'm of the same opinion that for serious boots you need to visit a serious store (in this case I'm leaning more towards Iglu or Kibuba who are really specialized in these things). It bothers me only that Planika boots are somehow hard to access and they don't have their own store to try multiple models in one place and find that "the one". I'll go to Iglu to try WS TRANGO TREK MICRO EVO GTX and then decide between those or Planika Kanin.

@metado, good luck with the purchase and I hope I helped you at least a bit in easier decision. I believe you won't be disappointed with either one or the other Good luck

I took Alpino. Fits nicely on my foot and they are such retro ones, real gojzar style. I'll see how they hold up.

You complicate things a bit with stores. A boot is a boot, no matter if you buy it at Hervis or Iglu. The choice or boot model is what matters. Unless you want to say that the boot model from Hervis is worse than the same model at Kibuba... For "serious" (for whatever, I don't know why "serious" would be an exception) boots you need common sense, and you can buy them even at Spar (provided they are available, of course).

@meto, I agree. By the way, they also have Planika at Intersport - which has a solid sales network all over Slovenia. So it's not quite true that they are so "hard" to get. They don't always have all models, sure.

Jax - currently buying them and tell you firsthand they are very hard to get. They have neither choice nor sizes. Everything needs to be ordered extra and wait a day or two to ship. In Intersport they had women's model only Jalovec, as far as I know Planika has quite some other models so that's trouble....but if you really want the boot you get it. Just call Turnišče and they deliver it to nearest store.

Ruzowski, I too started with Alpina and then switched to exactly that boot you mentioned. It's a whole different world, can't compare.

@ruzowski, haha... today you often run into such excellent service. My girlfriend last time wanted to buy a hiking boot in the Mass store, sadly they didn't have the size and when she asked if they could check another branch to see if they had it in stock, the salesman shrugged his shoulders and nicely walked away, horror @meto, I disagree a bit with you! I bought the Salomon Quest 3D GTX at Hervis, all OK but the sole is a disaster. My friend bought the same one at Intersport, so far I don't know about the sole because he wore them the second time, but the laces are a total disaster. OK, we all know where they're made, but I don't know what the various local stores do with them regarding storage

There's no other way than to go to the store and try on the boots; everyone has good and bad experiences. I know that Alpina boots are solid but not top-notch; they slip in wet Tibet and V, but they're much better for walking on dry terrain, just like there's no universal car tire that's excellent on dry, wet, and also excellent on snow—simply no, they can't make it.

@ljubiteljgora, I agree with you, you need to test the boot, check the forums a bit and then decide, definitely pay a few euros more because safety is first. And here's my Hervis result, I got completely new hiking boots. The complaints for the Salomons due to excessive wear were approved and I already have completely new ones at home. But this is my last purchase at Hervis in all respects regarding footwear Sadly, for mid-range they're quite good, for more you'll need to go higher Good luck

metado, here find the nearest place http://planika.si/prodajna-mesta/ - for me Planika greased with grease containing beeswax are still the best, far from being the absolute best, but they fit my feet the best and I feel the best on hikes in them, over Vibram sole I have no complaints either, oh and they're also compatible with crampons.....

Hi, I'm deciding between two models, namely: 1) Jack Wolfskin Mountain Attack 2) Adidas Terrex Swift R GTX I need them for daily hops to nearby local peaks, for trekking stuff. Does anyone have any experiences or which ones do you recommend? Thanks

I recommend those that fit you better ;-) It depends whether you will run or walk, Adidas are more intended for running, Wolfskin for walking...

Hi. I'm buying summer hiking boots, but I don't know exactly where to turn. Generally, Alpinis seem big for the size, so I would rather not buy them. I've eyed Salewa, specifically Rapace GTX or MTN Trainer GTX Mid. Since I have a wide foot, it seems to me they might become uncomfortable during the hike. Otherwise I like them (weight + size of the shoe itself + look). What else would be a good option for that money (150-180)?
