Hiking boots

@damjan_trbovlje

These Alpina mountaineering boots are more intended for winter activities, because neither is really light and breathable. In summer, your feet sweat in the heat, so in summer they're better for high alpine tours. Lower down, something lighter (Tibet, Tibet V, Nepal). Nepal for example is also a boot for high mountains. Tibet V same. But not really for winter. I bought Anapurna recently, haven't tested them yet. They weigh 1050 grams (size 45.5). Before I had Peak A, which is heavy. Teton is even heavier. I weighed a 10-year-old Peak A (44.5) and it showed 1210geek. In summer it feels like concrete on your feet.mrk pogled Otherwise they hold up. That's why I chose Anapurna, because they're lighter. The weight of Lhotse is probably similar to Anapurna. But probably more flexible than Anapurna. You just have to try them as much as possible before buying, how they fit etc. For every model you'll find satisfied and unsatisfied buyers. What about winter use?

Since I have both models, I'm replying to you. Anapurna are pure winter boots! Lhotse are very forgiving boots. For the first tour (breaking in) I chose exactly yours in August 2013. Kranj-Hrastnik train, to Kum and through Čebulova valley to Trbovlje and train home. I had the boots on all the time. No major rubbing. They obviously breathe. From Čebulova valley to Trbovlje the path was very greasy! No grip issues. For summer high mountains they are very good. They are fairly high boots.
Weight size 42: Lhotse 1042g
Anapurna 1002g

These are completely different boots.
I strongly doubt that Alpina makes for Intersport. Intersport doesn't sell Alpina.
The only similarity is the sole, which is Vibram anyway.

and the VCP insole, which is also Alpina's?

just a small note regarding Anapurna: it has a soft sole that bends easily, so automatic crampons can slip off when bending (front strap of crampon slips). this is especially noticeable when climbing ice or dry rock with crampons (say on some step). tested from experience, more than once. therefore, in my opinion semi-automatic crampons are more suitable for Anapurna, although the boot is designed for automatic crampons. just a note, if you already have automatic crampons, my advice is don't buy Anapurna. mežikanje

Sirt1 thanks for your opinion, Currently I have Tibet and Nepal, very satisfied. I want something a bit stronger so I don't wear them out right away. lp

I don't know what got worn out on you? If the sole wore out and the rest of the boot is still good, they replace the sole at Alpina. Vibram 40 euros, regular 30 euros.
Worth it!
Pictures of the boot where they replaced the soles for me this year, and on top the insole too.
Regular soles for 30 euros. These mid-mountain boots I wouldn't trade for 2 pairs of new ones.

Yes the sole wore out on both mentioned models, but on tibet I already replaced it a week ago and hope it holds long. On nepalkih same sole after year and half breaks and the rubber around the boot is already tearing quite a bit. As I say very satisfied with both models. Probably hike too much in mountains. In the end I'll probably take Nepalke anyway{They also work well with crampons}

Anyone have experience with Diablo model (Alpina)? Suitable for winter ascents?

Vibram is a name everyone surely hears from friends when buying hiking boots for the first time. Most hikers, travelers and alpinists recommend it and it is actually good. How it originated, read in story about Vibram sole. Our question is whether it is the only one or really that much better than others?

Slipping is not the fault of the boots. The real reason is lack of feeling ...

More in the post Is Vibram really better?

The sole is performing very well so far, I have the feeling it's even better than original Vibram. I've hiked with them Češka koča (up Žrela withdrawal - down Št. planina), Gozd-Tolsti vrh-Kriška-Gozd, Kališče, Kranj-Jošt-Šk.Loka, Sv.Jakob .... Grip was good on all surfaces. It is a bit softer than the original. Regarding wear, I have to wait a bit more, but so far it looks good.

Thanks. Obviously regular sole is worth it. Well at least this one.

@Martin M.

I don't agree with that, if the sole is worn out then it slips. Anyway the feel is important. Just like the quality of the sole is important. If we take Vibram, which makes thousands of different types of soles, from mountaineering boots all the way to sandals. And when you buy a boot it says Vibram on top, but nothing about the quality and its properties. It would be interesting to have labeling like on car tires. And decades of experience have to count somewhere. I myself, when my foot was still growing, wore ordinary soled boots. I think they were from Alpine. After a few ascents the sole slipped a bit and then it slid happily on Grintavec and elsewhere. So, first quality is important.

First time I'm thinking about getting a new sole on an older boot. Specifically Salewa Rapace. I know it was mentioned somewhere that it's possible... can someone please give some concrete info.. good/bad experiences, price.. thanks!
