@javrhrib hmm, I don't have such bad experiences myself, through the whole winter they never got soaked once, it's true I didn't wear them in the hills, but there was still plenty of moisture even in more urban areas. The sole does wear relatively quickly, yeah. Here it simply holds that you get what you pay for...

I have Alpina Tibet V for five years already and recommend them. I've walked quite a few hills, they never blistered me, leather is durable, when the sole wears out you can take the shoes to Alpina stores for factory sole replacement - in short excellent price/quality ratio.

I too would kindly ask for help. I have wide feet, so boots often blister my toes. For easier hikes I have Lowa Vantage boots which I'm incredibly satisfied with, for more demanding hikes La Sportiva Trango, but with them after about three to four hours I have issues as they start blistering my toes. Which model would suit my foot? I'm excited about Lowa, with which I have very good experience (so far I had Renegade and Vantage models and both suited me well) specifically the Predazzo GTX model. http://www.promontana.si/oprema/plezalna-oprema/via-ferate/predazzo-gtx-cevlji.html Please for your opinion on Lowa Predazzo or advice which brand and model would be sensible to choose.

I don't know about others, but I always buy one size larger boots for the mountains. Mainly because of descent, otherwise your toes hurt. I won't answer your question which boots to choose because I don't know those brands and don't buy them, or rather I buy boots in the store to try them on and see if they fit. For winter I have Alpina Tibet because it suits my foot. In general I buy Alpina boots which are more affordable. Anyway if you hike a lot you wear them out, expensive or cheap ones.

I also buy larger boots! That's not the problem! The problem is the model. La Sportiva for example, I definitely won't buy again, they seem too narrow for my foot.

@maks57: try Planika, Meindl or some other German brand. Namely Germans have wider feet or Germanic last, Planika has medium width or euro last, Italians mostly narrow lasts or Romano last, although I think Salewa, Scarpa and others make some models in multiple widths...

Thank you very much for the advice, marco. Now it's completely clear to me why I feel so good with Lowa. I'll try. I was already thinking of trying Planika's Jalovec model which I like a lot, although I'm afraid it won't be anything since I tried models of that brand years ago and didn't feel good in them.

I have Alpina Ladakh and I'm extremely satisfied. Only maybe missing protective rubber but after a few high mountain tours they are still almost like new. I polish and grease them after every walk though...

For wide feet Planika is good, model Jalovec or Brana. Need to buy at least one size, maybe two sizes larger so no problem with foot squeezing and banging into the front of the boot. Best regards, good luck!

As for softness/stiffness ProAlp boots are ok and comfortable for me to wear. I have their low and high ones. Best to try them on in the store first.

What are your experiences with Planika Jalovec Lady mountaineering boots? Lately I've been wearing La Sportiva, which is a bit too narrow in the front part of the foot, which shouldn't be a problem with Planika. But I'm worried the heel might slip. Please share your comments and experiences. S.

serafina I have Planika Jalovec boots, and they fit my wide feet very well, likewise another (cheaper) model from Planika. They have quite a wide last. It took a while to get used to them, because they are quite stiff, sole too. They also have good sole grip on the surface.
