SamoK, I already had an ad and paid honestly too. I think for your statements they should really notify the admin what connection you have to hiking boots and if it's appropriate to gossip on the forum. Check the section.

Serafina, I'm wearing the Jalovec model for the second time in a row and it's great for me. I wear two sizes larger and the sole doesn't slip, they tighten well in the ankle area. But there's also the matter of foot shape. Cheaper than sportive and equally functional for Slovenian mountains.

Hiking boots are adaptable to feet, but it really depends on the foot shape and how the foot is broken in and how the individual overcomes steps on dangerous paths.

Reply to mali paklenici... I already have other Kayland hiking boots and I'm very satisfied with them. Currently I have exactly the boot you're asking about. As far as I'm concerned, it's very comfortable, reliable and has a sufficiently stiff and non-slip sole. I have a somewhat narrower foot though. I use them for ferratas as well as multi-hour hikes in the high mountains. I've already hiked many paths, and the boot is still as it should be. No remarks.

Does anyone have any idea where I can get MFF+ insoles for SALEWA MTN TRAINER MID GTX shoes (size 40.5)? Kibuba, where I bought them, doesn't have them, nor can it supply them. Thanks for any info. Regina

Guki, thanks. I know that link, but unfortunately, as it seems, they don't have them in stock. Regina

Quite different shoes. Anyway, I wore out some low Zenk, no GTX. They worked well for me. I also bought the mentioned mid-high ones, but returned them immediately. They aren't as cushioned as the low ones; the heel part is much harder. If you don't have sensitive feet, they might be okay.

Igor, with such high-sounding models you shouldn't even think of any bad feature. Me as an Alpine user, I first thought these were labels for some super sports or prestige cars.

Lepenatka, I'll gladly give you insoles, they are size 40, I think half size won't be a problem. I have my own custom-made insoles, and these are still completely new, unused. Write me privately and we'll arrange if you're interested

@igore: unfortunately I could never wear Scarpa, because all models were slightly too narrow for my feet ("slightly too narrow" turns into "very narrow" noticeably after a few hours walking). Better half swears by Scarpa shoes forever. For Dragontail I have experience only with low model, unfortunately bad experience. Two pairs went completely "kaputt" too fast, then I gave up on Garmont (maybe only I had such "luck", lots of folks praise them). Now running my first pair Salewa MTN Trainer GTX and basically super, but prefer slightly stiffer sole; because with such flexible sole the quasi "climbing" toe is mostly just for show. they are durable though - skied quite some scree slopes and still completely fine. @lino: because Alpina has better names dude, e.g.: ->Alpina AOSTA 653N1 ->Alpina Diablo 2.0 623M1 ->Alpina Tracker Low ->Alpina Simba MID ..... or did you just wanna look "cool" and "old school"?

I've tested several brands of summer shoes (Scarpa, Sportiva, Garmont, Lowa, Alpina, Merrell,...), but in recent years I find I walk and climb all day most easily in these shoes, even though they are the cheapest. Of course no ad for them, just my own experiences.

Haven't heard of them yet, but I'll head to their store sometime. The mid-high ones seem interesting to me. Thanks for the info.

You could also pick this model (Triglav), probably same maker and save even more.

I'll borrow this thread. So far I've tried everything in Alpina, Intersport and Hervis they had at the moment on the shelves. But I simply can't find a high boot. If the width fits me, I have a wider foot. My left ankle always starts hurting after 5-10 minutes. Why? How to solve it? What model? I have two pairs of Merrell – the wider option. Some airy ones, others GTX and also MAIPO for hot dry summer days and walks on Pohorje, in the city, dog walking; already for Uršlja I put on Moab Vent. I'm just getting to know the mountains. Years ago (as a girl actually) I had Kilimanjaro; now I have Columbia for 5-6 years, bought specifically for winter, cold and muddy walks with the dog, but I can't wear them any other way than tying them low like low Superga.

Čara, sorry, but I think you have more problems in your head than in your feet. Invent some different fun, maybe cycling. Regards.

Then better I'll stick to running and strength exercises and Pohorje and some Uršljas and Olševas in low hikers. Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't like cycling.

I have no issues with brands and labels. By specs and looks I've put these two in the selection for now. It could be something completely different in the end. There are as many boots as you want and if someone advises something, it's great. I'm interested if anyone has experiences and if the boot is ok before I go to try it. Thanks.
