@miri: That's right, I joined the society and this year as a volunteer helped a couple of weekends in the Hut on Ledine, which also falls under this society, so hikers could get at least drinks, coffee and tea. People were satisfied, me too, although I dedicated my free time to volunteer work, not to my own ascents in the mountains, for which I have time only on weekends. I miss that people realize it can be done, just need to move a bit from zero point 😉 Good luck!

Drinks, coffee and tea we can easily bring along ourselves. Food too. Volunteer work and sacrifice for comfy hillwalkers is unnecessary for that.

I don't condemn anyone. But I understand volunteer work only as humanitarian work. Everything else is pampering someone and making profit.
We really don't need a hut at such altitude. If for tourists, then let them be private and the offer will surely be better.
This hut wasn't built for hillwalkers anyway. At first we weren't even welcome there. When the glacier melted, it changed.

I see no reason for someone to work for free in the hut, while the society president pays himself from the profit for performing the function.

Did you mix up the huts a bit?
Here we're talking about Kalisce, the glacier is on Ledine (Vadine).
A bit of history about this society's huts.
On Krvavec there was once a large alpine hut (largest building below Krvavec summit), after various cow deals it became everything else but an alpine hut.
Then they built Rozko. It burned down. The then tenants built a new one and PD had to hand it over to them because they invested nothing in it.
The hut on St. Jakob was taken from them by local alpinists of PD Preddvor. Now PD Kranj is suing the Preddvor municipality to return the hut.
The hut on Ledine was this year "emergency supplied and.."
About Kalisce you all know anyway.
The huts nearby, on Zaplat and St. Jakob, are witnesses that every excuse smartly composed in PDs doesn't hold. Both were declared best huts this year.

Since I wasn't completely sure about ownership, I omitted "the hut on Šmarjetna gora". After checking I got assurances that this hut was also owned by PD Kranj.
If we add it all up, we can compare to PD Bovec (Zlatorog Hut in Trenta, Hut on Predel, Old Hut on Mangart Saddle-it disintegrated before their eyes and old Peter Skalar Hut on Kanin-it burned down for them).

You won't believe the glacier under Skuta is still there.
According to October 2022 measurements, there's still more than twice as much left as Triglav's.

Yesterday we headed towards Kališče from the Laški direction and reached it just before the first drops. But since we like to spice up the path if possible (sometimes on purpose, sometimes it just happens ), we chose a slightly different ascent. The path we imagined got lost after a while, so we had to continue on our own and somehow pull ourselves up to the upper marked path. Of course, when you succeed, the joy is almost complete.
The hut at Kališče was open, but no hikers around. On the whole path we met only one hiker with a dog, who was doing a much smaller loop. We returned via another path, past the former partisan hospital Košuta.
But when we drove off the parking lot, we soon drove into a hailstorm. So the day was really varied, in all respects !

Today excellent training to Kališče. The trail from the stream to the hut is mostly icy, especially on descent, so microspikes are very useful. Warm in front of the hut, short sleeves. Car can go to the last parking, as there's plenty of gravel between the ice for tires to grip. New warden Leon handles things, especially cooking. New bridge over Kokra is great, so we'll have to go up there more often.

Today the path to this popular hut is lively again. Trail dry, leaves not too much obstacle. But the road from Mač to the stream is new and smooth as glass. Also some additional parking spots arranged.

So Vel'ka and her chatterers can recover a bit, I changed the mountain today.
The new road above Mače has held up well in the first month, no potholes or ruts yet. At half past ten I leave the car at five degrees frost, trail dry, ground strongly frozen. Somewhere on the seventh tenth of the way, where I came out of fog into sun, the trail was suddenly white from hoarfrost falling from trees, but walking no problem, as ground dry and no slip. Less than ten minutes walk on fresh whiteness, just below Sp. Kališče ice starts, persisting to the hut. Here chains are good to have, at least on return.
On the terrace in front of closed hut I relax and sit motionless for a while on warm bench in still air. At noon check temp again, minus five Celsius
