I visited Kal Mountain on 8.10.2017... not the first time, but it's always interesting. It was wonderful... the mountain, like the path itself. Burning larches and herds of chamois that were grazing under Kokrško sedlo and we few hikers watched them from the path from Kokrško sedlo towards the summit. Sadly the hut at the saddle was already closed and no hot tea. On descent I twisted my leg falling on the stony path. With help of two male hikers and one female I descended to the car. Since I don't know their names, I thank them here for their patience. Ascent to the mountain means a lot to me, since my illness no longer allows visiting higher mountains. With great effort I visited five two-thousanders this year. Dear hikers who overtake in mountains and like to say how fast you are and how much you've walked that day, there are also such among you who invest more effort but walk slower. Thanks to those to whom help and friendship in hills also means a lot. Also because of them it's nicer in the hills.

Question: if we climb to Kalška Mountain from Cojza's hut at Kokrško sedlo - do we have to go over the so-called "notch", or does the path to Kalška Mountain branch off earlier?

No, when you reach the ridge the path goes right over the so-called notch and on to Kalški ridge, left to Kalška Mountain.

Today on Kalška Mountain via Kalce. Lots of dry leaves on the path, so harder to follow in places. In shady spots ground was frozen and slippery.

Nice mountain greeting!
Since I haven't seen any conditions anywhere, for the weekend I plan to hike to Kal Peak and Kal Ridge via Kokrško Saddle - Starting point in Konc.
What's the path status, snow conditions, etc.?

Today to Kal Peak from Suhadolnik. Path via Taško is in very bad condition. Already below the farm, sand and rock deposits start, after the last ladder the path is practically gone, pegs are torn off and broken. Old path also destroyed, especially last gully, but better than path via Taško. Interesting that nowhere announced that the path is destroyed.

The path was damaged by the storm on 22.6. When the path before Suhadolnik farm was damaged, most of the path was repaired the same day and the next day, so I could reach my car.

This weekend was a unique chance for multi-day visit to Kamnik Mountains, whose plan we completed at last moment just with visit to Kalška gora. In the plan indeed for quite some time missing the start or first tour, otherwise maybe done earlier. So everything fitted, plan, free time and weather.
1. day - Kalška gora via hunter's path from Žagana peč
2. day - Kokrška Kočna, Jezerska Kočna, Grintovec
3. day - traverse from Kokrško saddle to Kamniško saddle and descent to Kamniška Bistrica
All without too much rushing, pictures of first tour are on this side.
Trail definitely worth repeat visit, not in 10 years, but as soon as possible, e.g. already in upcoming time of yellow larches.
