Today a quick one on hunting path from Žagana peč to Kal Ridge, then to Kalška gora and descent over Kokrsko sedlo to the valley.
Sun peeked from behind clouds at timesjezik, otherwise cloudy, but great view of Julian Alps bathing in morning sunnasmeh.
This hunting path is beautiful.1

Today I went to Kal Ridge. Start at parking lot Planina Jezerce. Then across Kriška planina to Krvavec and descent to Planina Dolge Njive. From there to Kal Ridge, up there fog started which unfortunately didn't lift. Went to that ruined notch on the ridge and climbed up via cables and then further up. At Razor saddle below Veliki Zvoh I ran into a large herd of sheep. Before the top of Kal Ridge I spotted two large herds of chamois. There were more than forty. Never seen so many. Unfortunately no zoom on camera to get closer.

My goal was to climb the notch up and down, which I succeeded in. This is the beginning of the notch - bristling with pitons.15
Then we spot the cable.16

Unfortunately fog ruined the photos. It was extremely dense.18

Hi,

I'm interested in snow conditions on Kal Ridge (Krvavec - K.ridge). Did any new snow fall yesterday?

Yesterday from parking at Planina Jezerce past Planina Koren and Koren peak to Kal Ridge. Path mostly dry so no winter gear needed. Unbelievably good conditions for this time.

Some photos from today's ascent. Since I was first it was sinking up to my ass as expected, snow falling from trees and bushes, last 300m solid ice, so crampons won't hurt.

From Vrh Korena we continue to the summit. Crampons mandatory, snow icy in places and hard as glass. Descent via planina Dolga Njiva.

Yesterday ski touring on Kal Ridge, via Zvoh. Snow conditions excellent, very warm and little wind.

The view from home reveals quite some snow still fairly low on the south side of the Kamniks, in gullies up to about 1600 m. North side probably deeper.

Yesterday afternoon via Zvoh to Kal Ridge.
Up on ridge still quite some snow but fully south-facing so path passable (even without spikes).
Small problem only in one notch over Jež where passage very difficult due to snow (slip risk).
With current forecast think all bare by weekend.

On Saturday there were no tracks yet from the hut to Kal ridge, there's still quite some snow and the crossings can be a bit annoying. eek:
At least that's what it looked like when I observed from the path to Grintovec
