Hi,

I'm interested in how much snow is still on the path to Kal Ridge (Krvavec-Zvoh-Vrh Korena-Kal Ridge-Dolga njiva-Krvavec). Is it possible without winter gear?

This morning from pl. Jezerca, pl. Koren, Vrh Korena (1999), Škrbina, Kal Ridge, back over Dolga njiva, Razor saddle and Krvavec.
Weather mostly clear, wind negligible. Path BP. Met approx. 2 dozen hikers.

Today, wet from the night's rain, from Suhadolnik over Taško to Kokrsko sedlo and over Škrbina to the top.
Morning not too promising, but later it still made a nice day. nasmeh

Mists have their charm too. mežikanje

Descent same path.
BTW, hut closes 8.10.

Morning at Jezerca, car dashboard already showing +4°C.
To Kal Ridge summit, bushes quite wet, rocks on path slippery, fog in summit part, wind occasionally blew a bit of sun, up top cold easterlies gusting now and then, already winter-like, home still summer. Only a couple of mountaineers at Vrh Korena, met Garmont at Kalški. Cross waterproof 3x oiled and piled with stones no iron to withstand lightning. Parking lot almost empty even in the afternoon nasmeh

Something smart in the mountains - thirst hasn't been there yet.

Morning hop from Stahovica to Krvavec-Vrh Korena-Kal Ridge-K.gora-descent to valley where buddy and I got immediate ride to morning start.

Yesterday I visited Kal Ridge. I park at Andraž under Krvavec, where I come out of the fog into another world. It's clear, the sun is already warming nicely, just the path under feet towards the goal. I go to Veliki Zvoh, then over Jež to Vrh Korena and from there to Kal Ridge. On return I head over Dolge Njive towards the start. Yeah, it would be a sin to stay in the valley. At the top no more wooden cross, just that small one, as redbull pictured it.
Rocks mostly slippery due to moisture, otherwise no special features.

the mountain hut on Krvavec is being renovated

on the right Velika planina, Menina, Vel, Rogatec

water is running low, but this year's snow will come in handy

At the summit - 2224m. Only a small plastic cross is on top.

Already morning on Krvavec promised and despite completely "closing up" in between, a day formed that lasted till sunset, as it just wouldn't go to valley velik nasmeh

Yesterday quickly from Kriška Planina under Zvoh and over Planina Dolga Njiva to Kal Ridge. Expecting the forecasted stratus cloudiness, I thought to hop to Kalška Gora too, then along the traverse under the ridge back to Korena and Kriška Planina.

But the weather around noon totally screwed up (fog and muggy SW wind), so I turned at the top and went back the same way. Upon arrival at Krvavec the weather improved, no trace of fog or wind. So I could only watch everything visible with a long nose.

But that's how it is...

On shady paths there was some kind of moss, somewhat slippery in places

Along most of the path to Kalški greben the brushwood is newly trimmed. Thanks to those maintaining the paths!

In clear weather mists creep in from somewhere

On return the fog thins, only wind still blows across the ridge

The backdrop of Kamniške Alpe slowly reappears

The old hut at Planina Dolga njiva barely holds together

Who says it was foggy and windy at the top two hours ago?

Tonight to the top from Suhadolnik. There is still lots of snow to the saddle (Cojz hut), further without issues. Snow is also at night completely soaked, so no ice axe nor crampons needed. Also on other peaks in the vicinity there seems to be little snow, except Turska gora and Ojstrica. When I was returning, some hikers were also heading to Grintovec. Weather cloudy also towards the east, western Julians in the sun, exactly opposite to the forecast.

Yesterday we did a nice tour through the pastures above Krvavec. We started at Kriška Planina and headed via Planina Koren to Vrh Korena 1999m, which greeted us in fog but we decided to continue to Kaški Greben 2224m and the decision was right as the fog cleared and we were rewarded with nice views of Grintovci and even to the Julian Alps. Nice day in good company.
