No problem getting up there. Tested on Sunday. Up through the pasture, down then on the field. Small snow piles, that's all.

Today on Kal Ridge, namely from Jezerc over Planina Koren and Vrh Korena. To Vrh Korena path in shade, then warm, especially on last ascent from Dolga Njiva to Krvavec. Path OK, still quite a few snow patches which don't hinder walking. Ridge to Kokrško Sedlo bare, on path over Kalce still many snowfields.

Since Vrh korena still lacks 1m, I took Kal Ridge too. Started from Jezerc /parking 2 euros/ and went over Planina Koren first to Vrh korena then to Kal Ridge. Returned through Dolga Njiva to Krvavec. Yesterday afternoon it rained, so the ground was soaked and slippery. Weather super, few hikers except around Krvavec. As always, I stopped at Pr Florjan.

Hi, has anyone been to Kal Ridge recently? Variant via Planina Koren. Mainly interested in how much snow there is and how icy the path is.

We were there today (12.1.2019) on Kal Ridge from Kokra via Dolga Njiva - so I can give you info from Škrbina onwards. Snow is very hard, where it's windblown to the ground it's icy, highly recommend crampons. Towards the top it was very windy, with stronger gusts in between.

Today I went to Kal Ridge from Kokra or from Roblek farm. After cca 15-20 min walking in forest hardened snow base starts appearing, many places pure ice. Before entering Lojtra "path" goes direct up gully - steep and frozen, warmly recommend crampons and ice axe. Crossing Lojtra without full winter gear is deadly dangerous. Higher up path visible on surface, especially on snowshoe tracks sinks less, but still sinks to thighs in places.

Frozen snow in Lojtri even on return at 13:15. At 2 places each time, 2-3m long, the risk of slipping without crampons is very high.2

The day before yesterday we ascended from Kriška Planina via Planina Koren to Vrh Korena and then to Vrh Kal Ridge. Snow starts a bit above the hut on Planina Koren. We used crampons on descent from Vrh Korena to Škrbina and then on upper Kal Ridge. From top of Kal Ridge to Planina Koren still possible skiing. More at: https://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/146646/
