Similar to Kanin, the cable car to Krvavec starts only at nine in the morning, which is quite late for those planning a longer tour in one day. I don't understand why in preseason they start two hours earlier than in the season (when there are most people and no more snow) and even then on weekends later than on weekdays

Yesterday (Thursday, 02.01.2020). From Jezerc to Zvoh, no crampons needed, but I put them on before entering the path over Jež, a mixed snowy-rocky area. The Škrbina with fixed ropes is partially snowy, but the rope is fully visible, so no problems. Below Vrh Korena the snow is hard, mostly so further to the Kal Ridge. Crampons needed here, especially the last few hundred meters. At the top cloudless, a bit of wind, views accordingly - magnificent. On Grintovec at least 15 visitors climbing up and down, yesterday the same number on the Kal Ridge, also on Vrh Korena and Kompotela. I liked the group of young people ascending the last steep parts to the Kal Ridge properly: crampons and ice axes in hands, poles on packs. Otherwise I met some enthusiasts with microspikes. Returned via Planina Dolge Njive. The path from the planina through scrub to the Zvoh ski area is snowy with a few cm of snow, not icy, passable without crampons.

You beat me to it, Matic...as if there's only one Roblek?...by the way, once I was on three Debele vrhove in three days...the "basic" ignorance of mountains and surroundings really saddens me...does anyone even look at the map nowadays?...does anyone even do "research", prepare for the tour?...my latest experience, both times at the entrance to Butinarjeva grapa, first time we already started climbing it when I hear two youngsters behind us: "go here?"...they pull phones from pockets and start tapping...I just watched them and waited to see what they'd do, as I'd definitely dissuade them...well, they didn't figure what that thing was and went on towards Župančičeva...in the other case, before Butinarjeva they started arguing if that's Pripravniška or not?...like, someone told one the first gully is Pripravniška...catastrophe!...luckily someone told the other to go a bit behind the edge...madhouse!!!!...and to mention how the day before, after winter exercises, northern neighbor demonstrated sliding down snowfield on back without proper gear...when he flew past me and I picked his stuff including superga with chain, I thought maybe everyone should see this firsthand...it sticks more than any written warning on gear use....no offense...nice day

I take it back. I really didn't know there's a hamlet Roblek in this part (checked).

Dr.ejči, this has become standard today. The smarter the phones get, the dumber people become. Inverse proportion in life. Healthy "peasant smarts" will slowly atrophy in people. GRS actions confirm it or scorched areas show it...

Yes, in "analog" times it was different and by no means worse. You memorized the tour or ascent description, had a "xeroxed" description with you, safety first, and where orientation issues were expected, a terrain photo or surroundings in the gear. Of course also "xeroxed". On the map, compass and more (like altimeter), which is now "basic" equipment on any somewhat smarter phone, better not even mention. Everything @Dr.ejči wrote holds true. Especially: "really saddens me "basic" ignorance of mountains and surroundings...", which is often seen in summer on peaks when many don't know the neighboring summits, let alone those across the valley. Nothing to do, probably aging, hence nagging and complaining for the good old times

Hi, has anyone been to Kal Ridge recently? Variant via Planina Koren or Zvoh or Dolga Njiva from Kriška Planina. Mainly interested in how much snow, (equipment)?

This is how the eastern side of the hill looked a week ago today. Today the picture should be quite different, since there were no new snowfalls, but it was relatively warm and snow was melting even at night.
