Yes, you can get there with crampons or even without, you see all sorts and warn but man is his own worst enemy. I was there Sunday in full winter gear, nothing more to add.

Zekoo, I myself would never go with crampons. To Vrh Korena on Sunday I didn't use winter gear, afterwards I did. Without it I wouldn't continue.

redbull, I'm not ashamed of the question, a buddy would go with me who doesn't have full winter gear, that's why I asked. Shame on the gentleman for such an arrogant reply. regards. palček: thanks for the honest answer. ps. so you don't worry yourselves sick, we have brains and won't risk

Dejan gave you well-meaning advice. You asked about conditions in high mountains in winter time. This weekend was black, all media reported on it, so you couldn't miss it. And then you wonder when someone writes that in such conditions without proper gear, especially needed knowledge and experience, you shouldn't attempt the ascent. Maybe smart to visit some course on safe movement in mountains or alpine school. Good luck.

Currently Kamnik Alps are really very icy. Previous ones on Storžič and Grintavec show it rained up to the top. After Friday's thaw now that it's cold again, everything has worsened. Until new snow, conditions will require big crampons and ice axe. Afraid the weekend could repeat in its darkest form.

Given the conditions visible from published photos, zekota's question is quite in place, across Planina Koren shouldn't be a problem to Kalški greben with small crampons, the question is only if you can get from Planina Dolga njiva to Zvoh, there is probably trouble.

Bejž no! Have you been there in winter already? From Vrh Korena steep descent to saddle awaits, where the signposts are. There snow often hard as concrete, even if elsewhere already softened, steepness is quite substantial. Definitely enough for a slip.

if you don't have gear, you don't have it. you won't jump from the plane if you don't have a parachute. and even if you do, you won't jump if you don't have the proper knowledge!]]>

We wanted to go to Kal Ridge from Krvavec but the shortcut to Dolga Njiva is snow-covered and we turned back and we're going to Jež Ridge.

Has anyone by chance recently hiked to Kal Ridge via the pathless route described in Habjan's book?
