Kanjavčeve police - Mira Marko Debelak Path

Given the hot forecast, today's hike over Kanjavec ledges was ideal as most of it was in shade. Start a bit before seven in Zadnjica. Along comfortable mulatiera quickly up to junction to Kanjavec ledges. Here mostly enjoyment, path runs practically horizontally so no real effort needed. Still need to watch out as path is quite exposed and narrowed in several places. Few fixed protections, but they are in perfect condition. Just before saddle between Kanjavec and Vodnikov vrh turned right off marked path and in good ten minutes at top of Vodnikov vrh. Then descent past lake to hut at Prehodavci and back to valley on hot mulatiera.

My Sunday goal. I've long wanted to visit these ledges. Now that the snow has melted, it was the right time. Met only two returning to Dolič. Exposed, some very narrow passages. Otherwise nice panoramic tour. There you see how mighty Kanjavec is. Descended from Vršac saddle to Prehodavci. From there to Mali Špič. Then a bit further to saddle with view of Zadnje Triglavsko jezero. Spent some time up there enjoying nice weather yesterday. Then down to Prehodavci and to Kanjavec too.

My crystal ball tells me nothing now, future a bit foggy. But almost sure entrance to route under Dolič will still be nicely under snow then.

Given this winter - which wasn't one at all, there were no avalanches, and a month and a half of hot summer till then, I think you can go then.
It's funny to ask at the end of May if it will be clear in mid-July. The blind man said "we'll see".

It's sad that someone asks what it'll be like dry in July, conditions and weather are followed live. Franci knows what he's saying, such questions are spam on this forum, that's it.. whoever's serious about going somewhere doesn't ask 2 months ahead.. good luck nasmeh

Thanks. I deleted the spam though. Sandra, if you're going on the path then report the conditions.

over Kanjavčev Shelves & Vršac nad Zadnjico (or Vodnikov Vršac or Zadnjiški Vršac) - conditions 4.8.2027

This path is always adrenaline and interesting and this summer again ideal time for visiting Kanjavčev Shelves, markings freshly renewed and directional red lines excellently marked, no snow patches on path, but as always lots of scree, well - only one flaw noticed: one pulled peg at exposed spot that should hold the cable. Almost whole path needs full concentration and watch feet and head. Most of day (till around 14.00) path mostly in shade in summer.

Path not for dizzy of course, I like it better from Dolič to Prehodavci, usually add Vršac at end for cherry on top, well - and it got renamed three times on maps lately. No marked path to Vršac nad Zadnjico, if going mentioned direction from Dolič easiest ascend cross up between grass and rock before saddle (or drop to lake), same easier descend under rock step west to Zasavska hut. Also Vršac nad Zadnjico very spacious south or to Lake pod Vršacem with several peaks in ridge vertically cut north to Zadnjica valley, summit area full small dolines and pockets smooth rocks below to friendlier flat green part.
Lakes around Zasavska koča at Prehodavci almost dried up this year.

a little below Dolič, here the path starts1

Beautiful tour, congrats!

About Vršac, here's an interesting article by Henrik Tuma why Vršac nad Zadnjica and not Vodnikov:

If you're going over Kanjavčeve police, also go to Vodnikov Vršac. On the way. Last year I didn't decide. This year I went. Wonderful peak. You rarely meet anyone. I went from Zadnjica over Dol saddle to Prehodavci on Saturday 26 Aug. On Vršac cairns lead to the wall edge with view to the valley and Z. Ozebnik. On Kanjavčeve police I met a group of hikers heading to Prehodavci.

I meet a group and put away the poles. They would only hinder me.15
there is quite some scree on the path16
and the chain, where necessary17
this path is beautiful18
there are also some such places where it is better not to be too big19
and almost at the end or the beginning of the path, depending on the direction.20

Has anyone been there in the last days/weeks? What's the status with snow patches? Thanks for info.

;-) no answer so I checked myself. In short, right below the hut at Dolič where the branch to Kanjavčeve police is, there's currently one big snow patch blocking safe access to the path.

So had to go to Prehodavci over Kanjavec. ;-)
