None of us or other hikers had ice axe or crampons. Not dangerous.

Do I need at least gaiters or can I go without? Because on such a long path that I might do soon (Zadnjica – Tržaška hut on Dolič – Kanjavec – Zasavska hut on Prehodavci – Zadnjica) I don't feel like carrying them and prefer to wait another week.

No need to wait, just go on the path, gaiters aren't needed either, I walked the path on Sunday.

We're heading to Kanjavec from Babno polje via Hribarice.. Wondering if there's any drinking water spring on the path?

On Babno polje only wild boar Herman lives, he has 256kg!. Rudno polje is another freezer we have. Water available at Vodnikov dom at the springvelik nasmeh.

Oops... got confused... start will be from planina Blato.... Is there a spring anywhere on the path here?

On the Triglav 1:25000 map all springs are drawn in.

For Monday, 23.9., after a long time finally ideal conditions for mountain visits and excellent visibility were forecasted, so there were no doubts at all what to do on the first autumn day.
I headed to the long-desired Kanjavec. From Stara Fužina a friendly mountaineer drove me to planina Blato, to whom I thank again for the ride. Then across planini Pri Jezeru and Dedno polje. The path continues through the solitary valley Za Kopico to saddle Vrata and over Hribarice to Kanjavec. I met the first mountaineer only at the start of Hribarice, soon after that also a couple of beautiful ibex. The ascent from Hribarice to the summit of Kanjavec wasn't really easy, as the path mostly climbs quite steeply over very scree terrain.
On the summit endless views, which gained even more beauty when the other hikers left the summit and boundless peace embraced the mountain.
From the summit I descended to saddle Hribarice. This part of the path seemed somewhat less strenuous to me. Although it was necessary to climb over one rock on the narrow ridge, the path afterwards is considerably less steep and with less scree than the path I ascended. Followed by descent to Dolič, where I waited for morning and the next day continued to Morbegne.
Unfortunately I was on such a beautiful path and on such a beautiful day without a camera, so here are some phone pictures, with which I didn't even approximately manage to capture all the vastness.

@SuzanaM - beautiful; you're like my "scout-precursor" because I've had exactly this path and then to Morbegna planned for some time; how long did you walk from pl. Blato to Kanjavec summit, and then to Dolič? I was on this path to the junction for Prehodavci last year and know it; thanks and bestsmile

Pohodnica53, a good 7 hours to Dolič, with breaks 8 hours 45 min. Pl. Blato-Vrata almost 4 hours with 2 short breaks.
Vrata-Kanjavec another good 2 hours (running out of fuel towards top), Kanjavec-Dolič 1 hour 20 min.

Carniolus, no chamois for me either. Ibex quite a few. On Hribarice the beauty in the photo, with a young female. Evening at Dolič another two - mom with kid. Morning at Dolič same two grazing right by the hut. At Morbegna another family: young ibex, female and kid. Before Dolič also two marmots, next morning to Morbegna two ptarmigans. Really beautiful.

Has anyone been to Kanjavec these days? Is there still any snow from the Hribaric direction towards the summit?

Best regards

On Friday we set off on skis to Kanjavec from Bohinj. The road was snowy except for a couple of interruptions on the flat, already right from the Voje-Blato junction.
Higher up we continued past Blato over planina V Lazu to Lazovski preval. Then came the traverse under Debelim vrhom, where Kanjavec already shows up.
Through thickly snow-covered valleys then over Hribaric to the summit. I won't waste words on the views.
For skiing we chose wide slopes under Škednjovcem towards planina Krstenica.
Followed by skiing through the forest to Blato and further along the road almost to the car.
On a beautiful day enjoyed Cveto, Janko, Franci.

Today I was up there. Weather: fog, visibility 5 meters. If there'd been no tracks I would have turned back already at Lazovski preval. Accompanied by sun, rain, snow and fog.
Will need to repeat the tour once more in better weather.

Know it'll be tough but still best regards!
