Kanjavec

Nice weather forecast lured my girlfriend and me on a quite long tour in the Julian Alps. At four in the morning we set off from Savica first to Črno, then to Dvojno jezero. From there we climbed to Mala Tičarica and continued along the ridge to the summit of Mala Zelnarica. Followed descent to Zasavska koča na Prehodavcih, where we had reserved accommodation. After a somewhat longer rest we did the ascent to Vodnikov Vršac and soon went to sleep. For the icing on the cake we conquered Kanjavec early in the morning and descended via Dolina Triglavskih jezer to our starting point.

The path is quite long and demanding, but the views are wonderful. I recommend to all who haven't wandered around here yet.

On August 23 we set off from Planina Blato towards Kanjavec. From the full parking lot we started at 3 pm, past planina Jezero, Dedno polje, over Prode to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih where we overnighted. The hut was full, staff friendly, but little peace. After getting up at half past six, the path led past Lake in Ledvicah, Green Lake, where we turned right uphill to Hribarice. The landscape here is like on Mars, completely rocky. From Hribarice to Kanjavec on steep scree path. From the summit nice view of neighboring Triglav which was swarming with visitors. We returned down valley Za Kopico to planina Blato. The trip was wonderful, to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih there were quite a few people, mostly foreigners. Saw chamois, marmots, ibex, plenty of birds. Walked 26.5km in thirteen hours.

On Sunday, 30.10.2016, among other things we also went over Vrh Hribaric along the ridge to both summits of Kanjavec. There's just a sample of snow.

Zadnjica - Dolič - Hribarice - Kanjavec - Prehodavci - Zadnjica.
Shady, sunny, dry, snowy, icy, hard.
Crampons, ice axe, helmet, balaclava and hat.
Supposed to be the coldest and windiest day. Perfect for testing Montura pants and Ortovox down jacket.

Hello,

does anyone perhaps know the conditions to the summit of Kanjavec from Triglav Lakes valley? To the start of Hribarice I saw a mini snow patch, what about further?

Was up Friday. Above brown lake snow starts. Didn't sink much, take winter gear. Kanjavec seemed crumbly to me as can go quite high on rock already. Or on snow if not too much south wind.

Over the weekend I'd go to Kanjavec from Planina Blato.
Up through Krstenica and along Velska dolina, back along the valley behind Kopica and through Planina Jezero.
Can also in reverse direction.
Does anyone have info if it's normally passable, how is the snow?

My visit to Kanjavec was aimed mainly at flowers, so a bit more of that in the post. You can still grab snow and refresh, only yesterday no need, more gloves on Velem polju, where it was proper frost in the morning. velik nasmeh
Started and finished at the end of the road at Rudno polje... quite long path, but with all mountain beauties easier to overcome efforts.

ps found car keys and handed them to Bled police

Behind us is two-day hiking through Fužinske planine, crossing the ridge from Tičarice to Zelnarica and ascent to Kanjavec. Slept at Prehodavci and next day returned over the seven lakes back to planina Blato.
All paths normally passable. For first day need lots of fluids, otherwise super tour, especially second day nice on "easy-variant".nasmehmežikanjemežikanje

We rather decided to go mid-week on a three-day tour. It's easier to get a place to sleep than at the end of the weekend. On Kredarica there are mostly foreign hikers. On the second day we went from Staničeva koča to Triglav. Then we descended over Bobška škrbina to Dolič. The two of us decided to go to Kanjavec and then descend to the top of Hribaric. We'll meet at Planika. Then we'll go together to Kredarica to sleep.
Poppies are still beautiful.1
We had a hot ascent to Kanjavec, one snow patch below the summit, we were cooling our beer.2
On the summit3
Two more specimens arrived from the Bohinj side,4
We're heading towards Hribarice.5
6
But I don't know what this is.7
A helicopter was flying material to Planika - they're installing a lightning conductor.8
It's long to Kredarica - the path to Ivačičeva jama is visible.9

There's just a sample of snow.
