I'll believe it a lot, since I've walked there, Velska d. is really wonderful, especially in autumn nasmeh
Circular would really be ideal solution, but since we have slightly different plan (sleep at Zasavska, second day through Triglav lakes valley), have to choose one variant this time.. but I feel that whichever it is, it will be great mežikanje

Over the weekend successful hike with hiking group Štajga to Kanjavec and Veliko špičje.

1st day: start early morning at three from Mislinja to catch the first bus at 5.30 from Senožeta to Planina Blato. When we arrive at the parking lot we find out that the first bus goes only at 6.30, at least an hour late for hikers. No choice, of course we wait, pay the parking fee (it's also twice as expensive as the info on the internet). The bus was already full at six, we wait till 6.30 and go, some had to stand on the bus. A bit after seven in the morning we finally start hiking towards Planina pri Jezeru and from there to Za Kopico to Hribarice. From Hribarice to Kanjavec and then back by another path to Prehodavci, where we had reserved accommodation. Dinner, socializing, cards and singing and then well-deserved rest in the bivouac, where you can sleep excellently. We were quite a colorful company of Carinthians, Prekmurans and also Croats. Last song, Good night Irena and then sleep.

2nd day: wake up at half six and departure at six in two groups, smaller group directly to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih, larger one to Veliko špičje. Very nice ridge path, once again confirmed the rule that the true summit is the very last one. After 2.30 hours we arrive at a very panoramic summit, from where you can see almost all Julijci. Descent to Dolina sedmerih jezer was a bit unpleasant, but we survived anyway. Refreshment at Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih and then over Štapce to Planina pri Jezeru and on to Planina Blato for the bus. Half an hour before bus departure there were already 35 of us there, when we set off some latecomers came, so we headed down completely full, at least 15 people had to stand. After the two-day tour there was refreshment in Bohinjsko jezero and drive towards Koroška.

Zadnjica - Dolič - Kanjavec - Hribarice and descent past Dolič to Zadnjica. Yesterday was beautiful. On the mulatjera there were very few hikers. We had to leave home early if we wanted to do a circular tour. But at the top of Hribarice we decided on descent to Dolič instead of over Prehodavci. And the hours showed 25 km of walking and a bit less than 2000 elevation gain. On Kanjavec there weren't many of us. Probably the opposite peak was much better visited. Exactly at noon we were at the top. And stayed about an hour. But we had to descend to the valley.

Group of 17 hikers DR MOL under the guidance of a guide and two assistants, from Zadnjica along the excellent mulatjera to Dolič. The path is nicely laid out, but you still have to overcome 1,500 elevation gain to the hut at Dolič. After an hour break we continued to the summit of Kanjavec 2,569 m. 1,900 elevation gain is not little, that's enough to conquer Triglav... Path is nicely marked, weather pleasant for hiking, nature beautiful. On the way besides other flowers we saw edelweiss. We enjoyed admiring the peaks, on the way to Dolič Zadnjiški Ozebnik, Pihavec, in the distance Jalovec and Mangart. From the top of Kanjavec we headed along the ridge path towards Hribarice and overnighted at Dolič. On Sunday along Velska dolina towards Velem polje to Vodnikova koča. We got to know the surrounding peaks Šmarjetna glava, Mišelj konec, Mišeljski vrh, Debeli hrib, Koštrunovec. On the way to Vodnikova koča still great view towards Triglav, Planika... on the other side towards Jezerski Stog, above Vodnikova koča Vernar and Tosc. Path along Velska dolina is fairy-tale like, larches, dwarf pines, saw edelweiss and marmot. On the way to Rudno polje we were caught a few times by some raindrops, once even hail, but nothing serious. For the end boletus and chanterelle for the guide.
Special praise to the two youngest participants ten-year-old Jon and twelve-year-old Aljaž for the walked path...

After a good night's sleep in the still open Vodnikova koča at Velem polje, we headed along Velska dolina to the saddle Čez Hribarice, from there to Kanjavec.
The lower part of Velska planina glows in autumn colors of larches.
Path to Kanjavec is b.p. At the top we were surprised that there was fog on the Trentarska side, but of course much lower than the surrounding peaks.
We descended to the valley of Triglav lakes and admired the autumn colors again.
To the car over Fužinarske planine and the two-day loop was closed.
In high season we can't count on peace in these areas, this time we met really only a couple of hikers.

Last Saturday R. and I did a somewhat unusual ground-snow tour. From Planina Blato we climbed to picturesque Krstenica (where I got the idea for a few days vacation in a hut) and then through one of the valleys below Škednjovec, where continuous snow cover began. Hribarice summit (2388 m) was not far after that. From the top we descended a bit below Hribarice then towards Kanjavec summit. Up to here temperatures were like in summer, but when we started descending towards Dolič it got colder and a light wind blew. From the hut at Dolič to Hribarice and under Vršaki via the usual somewhat annoying traverse towards Za Kopico valley, but we turned off earlier to Zadnji Vogel. Excellent views simply wouldn't let us descend, so from the top towards Planina Laz we skied only shortly before eight and we were at the planina already in the dark. Followed a long descent in the dark to Blato and altogether more than 16 hours of hiking accumulated. It was worth it!

Monday, May 18th. From Planina Blato over Krstenica to Hribarice and on to Kanjavec, return over Lazovski preval and Planina v Lazu back to Blato. Aladin's cloud forecast wished for a clear day, I wanted wandering in Triglav foothills. From Blato I went up Bušnica gully, which ends just below the summit with a jump. Previously I bypassed it via steep forest on the left, yesterday I tried steep grass with rare trees on the right. In the gully everything was very wet from the start, the grass at the exit was no exception and slippery. It seems to me the left exit is a bit easier.

Soaked from dew, cheerful sun awaited me at Krstenica. At Planina Jezerce the tap is closed, water can be drawn about 50 meters at the trough. I continued through the second sub-valley of the valley Za Debelim vrhom (viewed from the east), which leads straight to Hribarice pass. Continuous snow starts at the beginning of the sub-valley, a bit higher there are steeper slopes where snow was dark gray and looked hard. Out of caution I put on crampons, the ascent was much more comfortable. Below Hribarice summit fog enveloped me, orientation became quite demanding. Together with Aladin we both got fooled. Aladin for the accuracy of his forecast, me for roaming Triglav foothills. It seems to me the dew in Bušnica already forecasted it early in the morning.

Not to lose the day, I headed to Kanjavec. But even there it didn't go smoothly. The path hides under snowdrift in several places, where it emerges again into rocks, it had to be explored each time. But in fog that's not exactly the easiest. At the summit it cleared as if by miracle for a few moments. Triglav, wrapped in soft padded cloud flakes, was like within reach.

The way back went faster. Of course I dutifully followed my own tracks until I - again below Vrh Hribarice - emerged from fog. I had some time and willingness left, so I also jumped to the northern neighbor of Debel vrh (maybe it's called Vrh Lašt, 2351m). Clouds lifted slightly, for a few minutes even Kanjavec appeared. Views to the other surrounding peaks were nice too, though deprived of sky blue. Everything is still heavily covered with snow.

I continued through the third sub-valley (from the east). At the end a descent of about 100m to the marked path towards Lazovski preval is needed, which is not problematic with skis. Yesterday however it had to be descended by walking on steep grass and dropping through shallow snow under which there were numerous holes. Krajne poči and similar holes, which are usually hidden in snow on slope bends, are in my opinion the biggest danger in current conditions.

After spending most of the day on snow, real spring delighted me below Lazovski preval. I didn't meet anyone on the entire path, nor were there tracks in the snow. Only the cart track from Sedmerih jezer to Planina Blato was muddy and full of tractor tracks. Lubadar obviously demands his due.

Hello mountaineers!
How strenuous is the tour to Kanjavec from Stara Fužina in 1 day? To Škrlatica from Vrata and back I burned 9 hours. Do you maybe know how much for this? Thanks for answersvelik nasmehvelik nasmehmežikanje

On Saturday I did Planina Blato - valley behind Kopica - Vrata - Kanjavec. With normal brisk walking we needed 5h to the summit including short breaks. nasmeh
I recommend bringing hiking poles, which help a bit when crossing a few snowfields.

For the return I had the idea to make a loop through the valley behind Mišelj vrh. First we couldn't find the right path, because everything is unmarked/off-trail. Then we found something I think is the path, but on the steep part there was a nasty snowfield and we had to turn back. So we returned via another valley, namely the one behind Debel vrh, which is marked only with cairns and leads to Lazovški preval. But it's a very nice valley.

Anze, is the path through the valley behind Debel vrh easy to follow?
like
anze19926. 07. 2020 13:04:33
I have to say it's not exactly the simplest. Especially if going downhill like I did. I think the cairns are much easier to spot going up from below. Actually there's almost no path, mainly because much walking on smooth rock.
But the valley is fairly simple (not steep) and actually doesn't matter much where we walk. In any case you'll get down and can't go too wrong. Just might spend a bit more time looking for cairns.

If you decide to go try to follow the route description here on hribi.net and add a stone to cairns for hikers coming after. Good luck. nasmeh
