Maemi, your last sentence echoed in my ears for a long time too... let people live their lives.. what can be more beautiful, more joyful, more natural? As for fate, whatever is meant for us, no caution helps here, nor sitting safely at home. There has to be some risk, of course according to one's own judgment, as we enrich our lives with it!

Who judges whom? I still have to emphasize this once again: the words "after snowfall you simply head to Kredarica" is not a statement that belongs on a public hiking portal. No excuse about fate, of any kind, withstands reasonable judgment. Say and write what you want, but you must be aware that words can also mean great responsibility.

Heinz, I completely agree with you! This is a public portal and hikers with different abilities read it and interpret what's written each in their own way. A word, whatever it is, carries a lot of weight!

Of course, on the forum we are hikers of different abilities, but each of us also has their own head. We don't have heads just to have hair on top and nod with them. When you go on a hike and assess that it's too dangerous for you or you don't have the strength to get through the snow, you just turn back. Where does it say that you have to get to the top at any cost. In the mountains we have our fate in our own hands, that's why they attract us so much. To excuse yourself by saying you read the conditions on the forum and then got into trouble is pointless. But I like @Maemi's posts, may there be more of them.

In the past, mountaineers were more cultured and responsible, and also friendly. Arrogance unfortunately leads to disaster. GRS warnings not to go to high mountains for 3 days after snowfall are probably fairy tales for some. Until.. And now the Great and Wise have decided - the swimming pool is open..

Not only follow GRS warnings, but also read some professional literature and gain mileage moving in various winter conditions, anticipate risk possibilities, assess your abilities... Bumslpepe beautifully and concisely explained the situation in question.

Franci, you didn't write that pic 15 has 90% of the currently present people at Kredarica, including staff.

As said, I was up yesterday too, treated myself to tea (still last year's price 1.80), [as it was] quite cold. Already at the parking lot I had a bad feeling that access conditions were not the best, only 6 cars parked. Access still summer (left of Snežna konta), problems start soon above Prgarca - collapsing in places, higher very loose snow. Last 100 m elevation mostly blown snow, but rocks/stones thickly iced. Ascent took 3.5 hrs, morning only ~10 up [there], half [of them] known. No one to summit, few pics in <1 min, fingers too stiff... On return met at least 18 [people], mostly foreigners - left knee started hurting, immensely glad for [the] car.

Today another early-morning one. Day temps slowly rising, ice appearing on path (melts [during the] day, freezes [at] night). Six-prong crampons came in handy. Sorry for worse pics. Gotta study new mobile.

Good morning from Kredarica. The path has everything from bare rock to ice and snow. Today I used Lesce chain crampons. The road from the basin to the parking is also quite icy.

Path to Upper Krma is icy, higher up lots of bare rock with hard snow/ice sections (crampons at own judgement). Coffee still the best.
