Today made (we twonasmeh) track to Tolsti vrh from Gozd and on to Kriška. Snow is dry and soft, in places wind-packed and sinks to knees. First winter tour this year. Very nice!nasmeh

Today trip from Povelje via Velika and Mala Poljana to Tolsti vrh. From pastures onwards walking on snow, on the path to Tolsti vrh some caution needed because slippery, especially on descent back.

Return via both Poljanas and Javornik pasture back to Povlje (with short "detour" towards Kališče, because I didn't go the right path - no trail).

In Povlje a local dog - white labrador (or golden retriever?) joined some hikers, went with them all to Velika Poljana, then with me to Tolsti vrh, then with some other hiker down the path to Gozd. Hope the dog found way home...

Yesterday from Slaparska vas under Storžič to Tolsti vrh.
Road icy and smooth from ca. 2 km further from the village towards Dom pod Storžičem or when it starts rising steeply. There also turnoff for footpath to hut, slope also very icy, some "fast walkers" turned back there already.
From hut along road to mala Poljana and to Tolsti vrh from frozen to dry snow on icy base. Descent with small crampons and winter boots with "crampon" profile no problem.
Without crampons much harder or dangerous.
At summit logbook already full. PD Križe!!
best regards.

Today it was blowing much more in Gozd than on Tolsti vrh and Kriška gora. Weather fantastic, wind as said not too bad, path becomes icy a little below Tolsti vrh and along the whole ridge to Kriška gora. Again grateful for those small chains that don't hinder at all, but provide fairly safe step on icy path. Enjoy next days in mountains - nice forecast!

From Gozd via Ježa to Tolsti vrh and from there to hut on Kriška gora. From hut to Gozd beginning trail icy. Plenty hikers, many irresponsible. Many in sneakers, no crampons. Some female hiker injured. Met rescuers rushing to help her. Hope nothing serious. Nice weather less windy than previous days.

Last Sunday of January, 11 hikers from PD Mislinja took part in a winter hike to Kriška gora (1471 m). Start at 8 a.m. at shelter in Gozd (891 m), headed to Kriška gora, arriving shortly before 10 a.m. Initially planned to ascend also Tolsti vrh (1715 m), but due to fog and heavily icy path to summit, decided to visit another time. After snack, stamping and group photo, descent towards Golnik, ended hike at 1 p.m. Weather initially not too favorable, fog or poor visibility up to halfway to Kriška gora, but closer to summit brighter, sun greeted at top, but missed nice views due to fog around or low clouds. Little or no snow on path, few cm on summit. Worth noting path to Kriška gora very icy in places, crampons not superfluous.

Today on a multi-hour tour starting from the village of Gojzd, then along the forest path to Kriška planina. From there to Tolsti vrh. Only before the pre-summit in a small gully it's a bit icy. Tolsti vrh had a lot of visitors. Then from there to Mala Polana. The path in the middle part is full of leaves. Under the leaves ice is hidden, very careful. From Mala Polana to Velika Polana. The hut is open every weekend. Since last year it has a new caretaker. Two years ago the old caretaker retired after twenty-eight years. He took good care of the hut - thanks! From there to planina Javornik. I was there for the first time. I descended to the valley via the gully on the marked path.
Somewhere in the middle of the forest path to Kriška planina there is a pleasant viewpoint.1
It even has its own name - Špičeva gora. I hadn't noticed that until now.2
Hut on Kriška gora.3
On the way to Tolsti vrh we can even have a picnic at the bench of Hribovska mornarica.4

Originally the plan was just Kriška gora. We meet an older hiker who says he was just on Tolsti vrh, that it's dry and not muddynasmeh. So we really decide to go up there. Yippeenasmehmežikanje. The path is otherwise without features, no traces of snow anywhere. Well, except that which blew in overnightvelik nasmeh. Somewhere in the middle of the path in the forest surprise: a herd of chamoisnasmeh. Already the second time in two days. Again we freeze and watchnasmehvelik nasmeh. For a while we watch each other, then the chamois stop posing and go up the steep slope. So we had no choice but to continue stepping forward. After 2h of walking we are at the summit. Alonenasmeh. Storžič and Košuta ridge in fog and clouds. Otherwise the view of Gorenjska enchants. We descend towards the hut on Kriška gora. On the way we meet the only person on the whole path, if we don't count that older gentleman. Slowly even those most persistent clouds and mists give way to the sun, so we can cast an eye on Storžič, Košuta ridge, Stol and more and morenasmeh. Unfortunately the hut was already closed when we arrived, so after a few minutes rest we headed to the starting point.
I can say that if we hadn't gone up here today, we would have been really sorry. I really didn't expect chamois, such nice views, such conditions---half winter, half summer.
Thanks to the company for such a nicely spent afternoon. I want more such hikesmežikanje.
mists still persist above Kriška gora... dilemma, will the weather hold or shall we rather return... we rather continued onwards :-)1
