Today I was for the first time on Kriška gora and Tolsti vrh. The path is steep all the way, but very nice. On the ridges to Tolsti vrh it was a bit windy. Snow in the surrounding mountains is less from day to day. Does anyone maybe know which mountain is on the fourth picture to the right of the Košuta ridge?

Hi pantani1, log in again to this post and when green buttons appear on the right, click the one that says SLIKE. They will all be arranged on the left side below, and next to them the photo descriptions. Then delete the description and write new text, and click save. That's it, hope I was clear

No, today was a completely different story. In the morning in the valley there was still some sunshine, on Tolsti vrh full fog, on Kriška something in between. The path very well trodden, crampons not really needed. Obviously many visitors yesterday on this path. Probably the forecasted rain will also take away all the snow, so today was the last day for enjoying winter conditions. Good luck to all!

Nice pics all. Maucec40, regarding the rain I wouldn't quite agree with you, as the snow line in northern Slovenia is forecasted quite low, down to 900-1000 m, so probably nice slush on Kriška

Hribovc88 from your mouth to God's ears! I'd really like to see some snow before real winter too! But the snow line is supposed to rise tomorrow around 1800 m a.s.l.! Anyway, hope there's soon a nice day for a jump into the mountains, right!

Just the sight of blue sky and snow-covered beauties is enough so that you expect nothing more from the day. Each time anew enchants the sun pushing through fog, hint of blue above gray and then the feeling when you rise above the sticky mix of smog, fog and dreariness. Somewhere around 1200 m was today's boundary. In between it got a bit cloudy, then the day shone in full beauty, could say it was even warm at the top. We did a circular tour today, first from Gozd over Ježa to the top, then down past Kriška gora. Pleasant chat with acquaintance at top, at Kriška chance meeting with group for New Year's tour. Pretty hard for us to return to darkness below. But with holidays coming, soon back to sun. Path ok, but small crampons recommended as icy, especially where dark all day but full of people.

On Sunday, 30.12.2012 we set off on this path to the summit. The day was gorgeous, peaks wrapped in the warmth of the sun, valleys in thick fog.
The hut on Kriška gora was open, so there were quite a few hikers.
On the path through the forest to the hut there is snow in places, icy patches in between, so I recommend crampons (small ones suffice). Views of the surrounding peaks were magnificent.
