Boškokrn, "over 400 ascents" - that's a stat where you tip your hat. Good luck further!

Today's Saturday in the mountains has deteriorated quite quickly. The plan was to open the shelter already for May 1st but due to fresh snow it wasn't possible. Also the area where the helicopter delivers supplies isn't clear yet so we'll wait a bit more. The hut on Planina Kuhinja is open on weekends. Krn 07. 05. 2016. I wish you a nice Saturday.

Via the marked path, the mountain is accessible without issues. Krn 15. 05. 2016.

Today I walked the route Planina Kuhinja - Lake in Lužnica - Batognica - Krn - Planina Kuhinja. On the way to Batognica there are some steep snowfields that need to be crossed with great caution (for safety I recommend ice axe). Snow is soft.

Planina Kuhinja - Krn, path is snow-free.

I went today in the opposite direction too.
I successfully crossed the snowfields with plenty of caution and by kicking steps. I might add that those who don't know this path shouldn't set off on it, because from the head of Lužnica towards Batognica the markers aren't visible and hikers went directly to the saddle. I had some trouble here myself because I followed the markers which then disappeared under the snow and I had to cross a large snowfield to visible tracks which I then followed to the end. Lužnica is still very snowy.
Otherwise Krn was quite visited today despite its characteristic fog - hehe. And its lower slopes from Kuhinja are rich with flowers

The shelter on Krn opened its doors yesterday, so everyone is warmly invited. Very friendly and young caretakers are waiting for you.

Good day, do you know if the Silva Koren via ferrata is dry and if winter gear is needed from Krn to the Krških Lakes hut? Thanks for the answer.

rupnka. Smir Silva Korena is dry and normally passable. Further from Krn to the lake there is still some snow which doesn't pose much of a problem. Maybe some small crampons won't hurt.

The Silva Korena path is dangerous for slipping when wet, better to take the path in drier weather conditions.

Igor is right, it's not worth risking in the wet as it is these days. To the lakes it's possible only over Batognica on dry land, otherwise without winter gear not recommended according to Dejan, the caretaker at Gomišček shelter, who today did this path both ways.nasmeh

As Igor already mentioned, smir Silva Korena is much more dangerous for slipping when wet. But that doesn't mean we are completely safe in the dry... Every hiker must first know himself - then decide, yes or no. We can't afford mistakes, neither in the wet nor in the dry...
