Lubnik Hut

I'm wondering if the Lubnik Hut is open every day of the week? A few weeks ago I actually saw a notice at the lower cable car station that it's closed on Mondays.

Some snapshots from today's trip to Lubnik.
Paths from Breznica and Gabrovo villages are well trodden, snow around 15cm.

Today despite cloudy weather I headed to Lubnik. Need to walk carefully due to wet rocks. At top wonderful views of snowy Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Hutkeeper very friendly, I recommend also very good tea.

Tomorrow (Sunday) I'm going to Lubnik, and I'm interested for info if there's any new snow, if the hut is open, and if the summit is already above the fog cover?

View through window shows Lubnik with foggy cap and gentle snowy embrace below summit. Nothing bad. Hut open till end of year every day except Monday then till mid March mountaineers on weekends. Heartily welcome.

The Lubnik Hut is always open. Snow up top around 10 cm. For sun check Katarina camera above Ljubljana in morning. Tomorrow more chance nice weather. No fear lowland fog at 1000m usually sunny already at Šmarna gora.

It's been a long time since I was up there, so today I head for a short trip.
Lubnik is considered quite a pilgrimage route, where on the paths, like me today, you meet Primorska folks, Snežnik inlanders, Kranj people, Ljubljaners, in short hikers from all over Slovenia.
I park at Kobila parking lot on the road leading to Gabrovo village. 550m elevation and about an hour walk awaits. Above 650m I peek out of the fog and a friendlier world opens. I continue along the ridge path through Mali Lubnik, there are so many paths around you can choose by mud, slopes, shortcuts etc. I hit the ridge and already close to the summit with the hut. At the top just lightly sprinkled with snow, temperature much higher than in the valley. Up top an hour break, then down to the valley.
On the way home on the road I encounter an unusual sight. First a traffic jam, then I spot a cow among the cars, swaying side to side in the bends, slipping with hooves on slippery asphalt. Later I see two young guys in the trunk with a leash in hands. Such a scene you only experience in some Serbian Yugonostalgic film like Kamiondžije... HAPPY 2010 from Rok!.

Today I was on Lubnik, very little snow, not even for gaiters, on the way back only slush and mud bothered, which started forming due to the sun. Otherwise great weather, hut at the top is open, so I recommend for a short trip.

Is there any hero who went on foot from Lubnik to Polhograjska Grmada (or vice versa), interested in path length-timewise. Thanks.

I'd go Grmada-Tošč-Ožbolt-Lubnik, about 6 hours, in between descend to the valley.

No, 6 hours is for faster ones. Depends also from where you descend to the valley and where you continue to Lubnik.
