Yes, below the hut and on the road before turning to the botanical garden, but winter gear not needed velik nasmeh

This time we did a loop from Sviščaki to Veliki, Srednji and Mali Snežnik. Despite poor visibility and wind the tour was pleasant. Luckily we didn't meet bears, other hikers saw them. On the way from Sviščaki to Ilirska Bistrica we stopped twice and admired the karst world and its flowers. Interesting is the flowering of common goldenroot. Snežnik yesterday 17.12.2023. Rather little snow. Windy only on top. Morning not many hikers. Towards noon on descent met them going up. Hut was open.

Snežnik yesterday 18.12.2023. Snow on top quite little. Practically no wind till 13h, near 10 °C, good for sunbathing. Good for escape from LJ fog. Views phenomenal, pics similar to Darinka's above. Behind me two from LJ with dog reached top. Right when I got to top, surprisingly one really sly beast awaited me up there, approached even to 3 meters...

Yes, but normally passable, in last part below summit even snow-free.

After a long time we returned to Snežnik and admired the forest richness of these areas. Always a pleasant ascent.

First time since student years back on Snežnik.
With daughter and nephew from Sviščaki. Path idyllic, nicely maintained. The icing on the cake is really nice botany in the last part of the path. Balm for eyes and soul!

Caretaker friendly, good-natured guy, food tasty! Bravo.

To make the drive circular, a "hop" to Loška dolina to Snežnik castle and Babno polje. Mild 24C at 14:00.

Today from Sviščaki to Snežnik. Road from Ilirska Bistrica to Sviščaki dry and drivable. Small crampons highly recommended. Many hikers and accordingly parking problem. Weather and views TOP.

A few years ago, when I went to Snežnik I drove through Bloke and then past Grad Snežnik. There somewhere by the castle the asphalt road ended. From Grad Snežnik to Sviščaki there's a long gravel road ahead. And I thought they had newly asphalted this road.
