Golaki 5.1.2021 offered views until 14h. Later it closed in and lightly snowed, overnight surely more snow fell. I left the car at the starting point for Mrzovec from Lokve towards M.Lazni, because I didn't dare further. It wasn't plowed, so deep tire tracks, my car low. The path extends by 15 to 20 minutes, which in this beauty is just added valuenasmeh Up there it's fairy-tale anyway.

Hi!
Beautiful hike. And beautiful photos. Haven't had so much energy for a long time. Next day even more cm snow fell on that base. By the track I judge it's quite popular. Whoever goes after the last snowfall on it will have tough track-breaking. From my home on the north side of Govci (Trnovski Gozd) would take more than eight hours with touring skis hiking, there and back of course.
Swiss, LP and safe in the mountains!

Has anyone hiked the path from Hublje spring past Otliško okno to Dom Antona Bavčerja on Čavnu and then to Golak. Wondering if this variant is marked on terrain and especially time it would take average hiker? Thanks for all well-meaning answers.

All listed paths are marked and trodden. Count a good hour to the window, then almost two to Predmeja. From there another cca 2h to the summit and 2.5h to Čaven. From the hut down it's an hour to Lokavec, how much from there to Hublje I have no idea as I never walked there on footnasmeh. Hours are for sections, if you add some fatigue and breaks it adds morevelik nasmeh

Aja, I mixed up your wishes a bit; but don't know either how much from Predmeja to Čaven: assume 1h no more. Above I wrote time from Predmeja to Golak

As mirank wrote paths are marked and trodden, mostly it's SPP route. For planning you can use PZS map too https://mapzs.pzs.si/poi/5296 (click "path" and it shows data). Good luck!

Hello!
With my grandson Tone we headed to Mali Golak in the early morning hours. From the parking lot at Strgarija pass along the access track to the hut. There we stopped and looked around it a bit. It's a spacious resting area with wooden locally made tables and benches. The hut is open only on weekends, Saturday and Sunday. Then leisurely along the path further. At the path junction we chose the steep variant. Into the really steep path we go slowly and carefully among rocks and roots. Marking among rocks is excellent. For variety we built some cairns along the way too, higher up there are even more, sadly winter knocked some down. Some are newly made and are real artworks. At the top we rested, took pictures and drank water. On the way back we looked in the undergrowth for "Golak lilies" I think they are Turkish ones. In the forest there are many open, some already wilted. Nice morning walk it was.

Good luck!

Mali Golak, for me the mountain with the best "panoramic"
view in Slovenia. Worth a visit, even though
it's on the other end of Slovenia for us Styrians.

Hi cenc!
Yes, true what you wrote. I can only add that clear winter days offer the best views from this mountain across almost all of Slovenia.
LP and safe in the mountains!

I was also there in winter and in beautiful weather.
Yes, almost no mountain in Slovenia and nearby Italy that you can't see from Golaks.
Lucky those who can have Golaks as their "house mountain".

what are the conditions like for Mali Golak?

Most of the path is completely dry, only towards the top there was a bit of snow yesterday (a couple of cm). But at these temperatures probably nothing left today or tomorrow. In short, all ok. Just don't forget hat and something around the neck, stronger wind in the coming days.

It's true, the path is almost snow-free, checked on Monday. But it was windy, so from Mali Golak over the middle to Veliki Golak there was quite some wind-blown ice down from the trees, which gave quite an interesting look to the spruces. Return to starting point Predmeja was down from Veliki Golak - thanks to whoever marked the path through that forest exceptionally well, so you really can't get lost. The part of the path under Medvedje and Mošančarski hill is still snowynasmeh

From the Edmund Čibej Hut we went. This side is unknown to me. But we had no problems. The path is mostly through the forest. We met only a runner descending. No one at the top. On the descent it started raining and thundering towards the Idrija end. The Julijci were in the clouds. As forecasted.

As here a few times this year we started in Tiha dolina and soon after the last house remains of snow cover appeared. Well at the big clearing by the sign where we turned right towards V Golak there was enough white to see fresh tracks of a bear size 42. Since we were pretty sure his wife doesn't follow him within half an hour we continued anyway with a bit louder talking to the place where his tracks joined the path. Over Sr to M Golak we didn't meet many people, but everything changes then to Iztok hut where inside is quite full and outside at such weather quite a few of us hang around. The caretakers have changed and first impression is they won't reach the predecessors.

Today the path from Tiha dolina led us into untouched whiteness and so it was all the time. Several times the sun hinted at intention to break through the fog and let the surroundings shine in full winter beauty but sadly stayed at intention. Snow depth from 10cm at start grew to some 25-30 at places behind V Golak. Along the ridge and on all three summits no views, only wind and cold, but still nice. Return from M Golak over Korenina in such conditions expressmežikanje, since the whole path was already trampled end to end before.
