It really was nice. With Janez we first went to Vevnica, then traversed Koritniški Mangart and up the Italian route to the top, down the Slovenian route and back to Belopeške where we started. (ps. protections on the path are OK) We wanted to do the ferrata too but we ran out of time. The most fascinating were the clouds, which rolled over the ridge like a waterfall.... super pictures. best regards A and J

Looking at pic 11, I can't see myself on the top. It was fun to observe how many people there were on Mangart, Zvončica was waving and greeting climbers on other peaks, it didn't seem that anyone noticed us but it was fun anyway. Saturday was really fantastic and thanks to all for the published pics, I can relive that day again and again. And of course, congratulations to all who stood on any peak in Slovenia. Be nice to me, Saša

For the weekend 20.10. we plan to go to Mangart. If someone has info, I'm interested in the condition on the Slovenian path, if there is snow. Greetings

These days some snow has fallen so for now there sure is some ... Now a couple of very warm days follow which means snow will largely melt but probably some can still be expected ...

Today I was on Mangart, and towards the summit about 20cm snow. On the Italian one you can get up without crampons and ice axe, but I advise against the Slovenian. The Italian via is dry.

Was up on Mangart. Started from the saddle down to ferrata. At one spot one peg is loose, the next one wobbles quite a bit, otherwise all super. Up via Slovenian down via Italian. Agree with oybl. Weather as ordered.

Hi. How much snow on Italian route? Crampons needed?

Not essential, but recommend ice axe for support.

Conditions change during the day, definitely take crampons and ice axe, I often took both but didn't need them.

After Triglav today also to Mangart. Conditions quite similar. Old snow is hard as concrete, some places icy and windblown. Very little new snow, on sunny slopes even corn snow. Otherwise nice views, such as from Mangart. Surprised by view of rockfall that happened between 6.11 till today. Material buried 25-30m of road about 500m before summit loop.

Yesterday on Mangart. Up Slovenian and down Italian. Snow very hard, compacted, some ice, anyway conditions demanding. Real winter mix.
